Last Friday, we launched the latest Sustainability Recommendation Paper, highlighting the rapid growth of wage digitalization in Cambodia's garment, footwear, and textile (GFT) sector—from just 22% in 2018 to 72% by 2024. Wage digitalization benefits employers, workers, and the broader economy by enhancing transparency, financial inclusion, and security, especially for women, who make up 75% of the workforce.    Key findings: 💡 Significant cost savings for factory owners. 💡 Increased adoption of digital payroll solutions, boosting access to financial services. 💡 Challenges like limited infrastructure in rural areas and low financial literacy require ongoing collaboration.   The paper outlines key recommendations, including incorporating wage digitalization into national strategies, supporting workers through financial literacy initiatives, and incentivizing factories to adopt these practices without shifting costs onto workers.   This paper was developed in collaboration with GIZ-FABRIC Cambodia, Responsible Business Hub Cambodia, EuroCham Cambodia, TAFTAC, RISE, ILO, and Better Factories Cambodia.   Download the report to explore our actionable recommendations on how to support wage digitalization, enhance worker financial literacy, and promote an inclusive digital economy. The 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐛-𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 is working to develop a 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 (𝐖𝐌𝐏) with a clear action plan to improve the environment in their district. Recently, Bavel Administration organized the integrated workshop on WMP dissemination and resource mobilization to raise awareness among stakeholders. The goal is to help them understand the concept of WMPs and encourage organizations and the private sector to contribute to planning efforts. Through this plan, the district can collaborate with local public or private administrations, offering technical support when needed. Key stakeholders, especially communes and schools, are already taking action by raising awareness, organizing clean-up campaigns, applying the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), and installing waste bins for proper segregation. Together, we can achieve cleaner, more sustainable communities! #WasteManagement #Bavel #SustainableDevelopment #3RPrinciples
