Last weekend, Partner Raushana Chaltabayeva and our young talent Daniil Litosh explored the importance of the Environmental Impact Assessments for ecological permits at a KIMEP University #guest #lecture. With over 20 curious and enthusiastic students in attendance, we covered everything from the types of #environmental impacts to the key objects that have to be assessed. The lecture included detailed overview of EIA stages with practical examples and insights from our own experiences. We hope that this session gave students a real-world understanding of how to conduct EIAs, maintain compliance, and manage environmental risks in various industries like construction and energy. It is always a rewarding experience to engage with the next generation of legal professionals and help them develop the knowledge and skills they will need to succeed!

On 16 September, 2024 the Chancellor of Germany arrived in Astana, where he held talks with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Tokayev characterised the visit as historic and noted that Germany is 'one of the key European and even global partners' of the Republic. Update on the International Atyrau Legal Conference which took place in September. On 13 September, Unicase Partner, Raushana Chaltabayeva, represented the Firm at the 18th International Atyrau Legal Conference organised by the Kazakhstan Petroleum Lawyers’ Association (KPLA) and the Tengizchevroil. For over 20 years, the International Atyrau Conference has been a flagship event hosted by KPLA and Tengizchevroil, dedicated to the oil and gas industry, and its leading professionals. This year, the conference gathered 200+ experts and opened discussions about Kazakhstan’s investment climate, further exploring key factors, #risks, #regulatory challenges, and growth opportunities within the sector. Following the official proceedings, attendees were invited to a gala dinner, and the next morning, a traditional picnic provided a relaxed setting for further networking. Raushana Chaltabayeva talked about risk mitigation strategies in her “Foreign Investment in Kazakhstan’s Oil and Gas Sector: Mitigating Risks in M&A Transactions” presentation, highlighting effective ways to overcome challenges and leverage opportunities in this dynamic industry.
