ReGeCom reinforces its commitment to People and Nature ReGeCom’s core mission is to build effective and representative community entities and place them at the heart of conservation efforts. This commitment was clearly articulated during the launch of our 2024-2028 Strategic Plan on August 15th, 2024. The launch event, held in person at the Montebelo Indy Hotel in Maputo, brought together representatives from the government, NGOs, civil society organizations, community members from around Maputo National Park, and ReGeCom members. The atmosphere was truly engaging, reflecting the shared dedication to our cause. Our strategic plan is designed to be a dynamic tool that guides our efforts in scaling up our community governance approach. It aims to provide valuable insights that support #Community-Based Natural Resource Management (#CBNRM) policies in Mozambique while strengthening the capacity of our members for collective impact. ReGeCom is eager to continue collaborating with various stakeholders, especially the Government of #Mozambique, to accelerate the implementation of community governance approaches around protected and conservation areas. Our goal is to place #communities at the center of #biodiversity #conservation and rural development initiatives while enhancing the benefits generated by the #sustainable management of #naturalresources. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to this milestone, particularly Maliasili who facilitated the plan’s development with financial support from the African Nature Based Tourism Platform. We look forward to increased engagement from other donors and partners in implementing the plan, ensuring that both people and nature can thrive in Mozambique.
