About us
The Caring for Girls with Period Initiative is a dedicated advocate for menstrual hygiene and health, working to combat the stigmas and barriers related to menstruation. With a mission to empower women and girls globally, we provide menstrual health awareness and education, access to sustainable menstrual products at no cost, and support initiatives to ensure women and girls of all ages have the resources they need. Through community outreaches, advocacy, and partnerships, we strive to promote menstrual equity and create a world where menstruation is celebrated as a natural and dignified aspect of life. Over the years, we have worked hard to achieve our goals through a variety of projects, including COMMUNITY AND MARKET OUTREACHES, THE GIRLS WITH PERIOD SCHOOL CLUB, THE ROYAL DAISY SEMINAR, THE PAD STASH PROJECT, THE PINKBOX PROJECT, GAMES FOR CHARITY, and THE GIFT A PAD CAMPAIGN. We have been able to reach over 30,000 women and girls across Africa.

Happy menstrual hygeine day!!! Super proud to celebrate such an important day with girls and women thereby educating them about menstrual health and hygeine.
10 schools in 2 day!!!!! For Menstrual Hygiene Day this year, we challenged ourselves to reach over 700 girls in 10 schools in just 2 days! Against all odds, we shared the importance of Menstrual Hygiene Day, why it is celebrated, and debunked several myths about menstruation, menstrual products, and period stigma. We are thrilled to have shared this experience with young girls from the Girls With Period School Club and we hope they will become advocates of this knowledge within their peer groups, communities, country and continent at large. Together, we strive to promote a #PeriodFriendlyWorld. Happy Menstrual Hygiene Day 2024! We assembled some of our students from The Girls With Period School Club to inform and educate you on a few essential details regarding menstruation and Menstrual Hygiene Day. To us at Caring For Girls With Period Initiative Menstrual Hygiene Day is more than just a date on the calendar; it’s a movement to, highlight the dangers of inadequate menstrual hygiene, challenge and correct common myths surrounding menstruation that contribute to stigma and misinformation and provide accurate information to women and girls about their menstrual cycle and overall health, empowering them to take control of their well-being. We believe that together, we can create a #periodfriendlyworld. A world where menstruation is celebrated, not stigmatized, and where every girl and woman has the knowledge and resources to manage their menstrual health with dignity. Happy Menstrual Hygiene day! A big step toward workplace gender equality has been adopted by organisations, who are now offering paid leave to women specifically for symptoms related to their periods. This shift reflects a growing recognition of the challenges many women experience during their periods—a subject that has historically received little attention in workplace policies. This change reflects a new perspective on diversity and workplace inclusivity that takes the biological differences of female employees into consideration. These organizations hope to foster a more conducive environment for women at these times by providing paid leaves for menstrual-related symptoms. Additionally, these modifications promote open conversations around menstruation. Raising awareness to this normal part life helps to de-stigmatize period-related conversations and fosters an environment where workers feel comfortable discussing about menstruation. Has your organization adopted this? Do you think this should be adopted by your company? Let us hear your thoughts below. There are major risks associated with poor hygiene, especially with teenagers. According to the World Health Organization one in three girls skip school when they are menstruating, due to a lack of resources and information. Through The Girls With Period School club program, young girls have the opportunity to learn that maintaining good personal hygiene promotes physical health, mental health and prevents infections. For a healthier future for the girl child, access to sanitary products and education about menstrual health should be first priority! -Free pads and periodic checks to improve the menstrual health of marginalized women- In marginalized communities, lack of access to proper menstrual hygiene products like pads can lead to health risks and force women to resort to unhygienic alternatives like rags, leaves, or even using the same pad for prolonged periods, which can cause infections like bacterial vaginosis, urinary tract infections, etc Providing free pads not only ensures better menstrual hygiene but also reduces the risk of these infections. Through The Pad Stash Project, we've been able to reach out to over 1500 women and girls, providing monthly sanitary kits, addressing myths or misconceptions surrounding menstruation and reproductive health thus promoting better self-care and health choices. You too, can partner with us or support this initiative by sending an email to info@girlswithperiod.org or check out our website https://lnkd.in/ddhnkVXM for more enquiries.
