Plastic is everywhere—in our water, food, air, and beyond. It has become an integral part of our daily lives, but its pervasive presence poses significant threats to our health and the environment. Addressing plastic pollution at every stage of production is key to preserving our planet, our only home. From manufacturing to disposal, we must adopt sustainable practices and innovative solutions to reduce plastic waste. This #PlasticFreeJuly, and every day, join us to #BeatPlasticPollution. Together, we can make a difference by making mindful choices, supporting eco-friendly alternatives, and advocating for policies that promote a cleaner, greener world. Let's commit to a future where plastic pollution is a thing of the past. Follow Sustainability Forward for update on latest trends, insights and discussions on sustainability. #TropicsDay is a reminder of the urgent need for #ClimateAction and the necessity to enhance #GenerationRestoration efforts to safeguard the rich biodiversity and human populations in the tropics. The stakes are incredibly high in these regions, which face threats from climate change, deforestation, urbanization, and demographic shifts. Biodiversity loss in the tropics is significantly greater than in other parts of the world, and nearly half of the region's population struggles with inadequate water resources. On this World Tropics Day, let's commit to protecting the unique ecosystems and communities that make the tropics so vital. By stepping up our restoration efforts and taking decisive climate action, we can help secure a sustainable future for these invaluable regions. Happy International Day for the Tropics. Did you know? Climate change profoundly impacts children, affecting their health, well-being, and future opportunities more severely than adults due to their developing bodies and dependence on caregivers. Children face heightened risks from heat-related illnesses, respiratory problems, mental health issues, educational disruption, and loss of opportunities. Addressing the impact of climate change on children requires a comprehensive approach that includes mitigating climate change, adapting to its effects, improving healthcare and education systems, and enhancing disaster preparedness. Policies must focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and addressing children's specific vulnerabilities and needs. This effort demands cooperation among governments, communities, and international organizations to create a safer, healthier future for the younger generation. “The triple planetary crisis of climate change, nature loss and pollution is driven from a crisis of unsustainable consumption and production. We must work with nature, instead of merely exploiting it,” Inger Andersen, Executive Director of UN Environment Programme. High-income countries, often characterized by their industrialized economies and higher standards of living, tend to consume significantly more resources per capita than low-income countries. This includes energy, water, land, and raw materials. These countries typically produce higher levels of greenhouse gas emissions per capita compared to low-income countries. This is largely due to their reliance on fossil fuels for energy production, transportation, and industrial activities. These emissions contribute to climate change and its associated impacts, such as rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and sea-level rise. Efforts to address these disparities often involve strategies aimed at promoting sustainable development, reducing resource consumption, increasing energy efficiency, transitioning to renewable energy sources, and providing support for adaptation and resilience-building measures in vulnerable communities. However, addressing these inequalities requires concerted global cooperation and action to ensure that all countries can achieve economic prosperity while minimizing their environmental footprint. https://lnkd.in/g2b5ifA9 Article credit: UN Environment Programme Follow Sustainability Forward for update on latest trends, insights and discussions on sustainability. #sustainabilty #sustainabledevelopment #sdgs2030 #ecoconscious #sustainablebusiness #unitednations #biodiversity #greentech #actnow #generationrestoration #UNEP #climatecrisis #sdg7 #sdg13 #renewableenergy #Righttocleanenviroment #collaboration

Achieving success in the social aspect of ESG demands a level of dedication similar to that of economic and governmental perspectives. In order to attain the full Return on Investment (ROI) or Social Return on Investment (SROI) of the social facet of ESG, organizations must gauge the economic influence of their social strategies. This involves concentrating on the intangible benefits derived from any social program and translating them into positive economic impacts on the individuals and communities affected by the investment. In a recent article published by the Harvard Business Review, five key lessons were highlighted that shed light on how companies can effectively measure the economic impact of their social strategies and achieve their desired outcomes. https://lnkd.in/dUtyvma9 Follow Sustainability Forward for update on latest trends, insights and discussions on sustainability. #sustainabilty #sustainabledevelopment #sdgs2030 #ecoconscious #sustainablebusiness #unitednations #biodiversity #greentech #netzero #carbonneutrality #SustainableOperations #SustainableInvestment #CorporateSustainability #BusinessValue #SustainableGrowth #SustainableBusiness #CorporateResponsibility #EnvironmentalSustainability #SocialResponsibility #GreenBusiness #SustainableFuture #SustainabilityStrategy #BusinessInnovation #ClimateAction #GreenEconomy #CSR #EmployeeEngagement #SustainableDevelopment #CorporateLeadership

The importance of inculcating sustainability in corporate organizational operations cannot be overstated as it is believed that companies that embed sustainability into their operations are likely to experience significant benefits over their peers in areas including revenue growth, profitability and talent attraction, even without spending more on their sustainability efforts, according to a new global survey of senior executives released by IBM. For the new study, IBM’s Institute for Business Value (IBV), in collaboration with Oxford Economics, surveyed 5,000 C-suite executives across 22 countries and 22 industries, examining the progress, investments, outcomes and key challenges facing organizations in their sustainability efforts. https://lnkd.in/dTJs5cVj Follow Sustainability Forward for update on latest trends, insights and discussions on sustainability. #sustainabilty #sustainabledevelopment #sdgs2030 #ecoconscious #sustainablebusiness #unitednations #biodiversity #greentech #netzero #carbonneutrality #SustainableOperations #SustainableInvestment #TalentRetention #CorporateSustainability #BusinessValue #SustainableGrowth #SustainableBusiness #CorporateResponsibility #EnvironmentalSustainability #SocialResponsibility #EconomicGrowth #GreenBusiness #SustainableFuture #SustainabilityStrategy #BusinessInnovation #ClimateAction #GreenEconomy #CSR #EmployeeEngagement #SustainableDevelopment #CorporateLeadership
