Making markets work for nutritious foods

Over ons

Transforming markets to ensure 50% of food companies’ sales are derived from sustainable & affordable ‘healthy’ products by 2030. Through the development and delivery of accountability tools and strategies, ATNI empowers the food system’s key actors –starting with industry –to accelerate sustainable access to nutritious and affordable foods. We catalyze change through effective collaboration with companies, investors, policymakers, consumer representatives and civic leaders. Remaining independent and free of any undue influence, ATNI scrutinizes the performance of the world’s largest food and beverage companies, benchmarking these industry leaders on a range of nutrition related topics and indicators. Working towards international standards on nutrition we provide companies, investors and policymakers with the raw data and intel they need to drive sustainable change.

⌛  𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘅 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰: 𝟭 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗔𝗧𝗡𝗜’𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻  🔍 Every three years, ATNI publishes its assessment of how the world’s largest food and beverage (F&B) manufacturers contribute to addressing malnutrition in all its forms: overweight, obesity, undernutrition, and micronutrient deficiencies. For the 2024 edition, we assessed 30 companies worldwide and analyzed more than 60,000 products in their portfolios to determine whether they meet healthiness standards. 🍬 The current obesity epidemic is fueled, in part, by increased access to unhealthy processed foods, not only in high-income countries but also in middle- and low-income countries. We are also seeing alongside broader shifts in the food sector—including increasing demands for companies to disclose information about the healthiness of their product portfolios and calls for increasing regulations around food composition and marketing practices, especially marketing to children.   ⚡ In addition to presenting our key findings, we also propose necessary actions, which we hope will drive partnerships, spur innovation, and catalyze market changes to ensure more people have access to nutritious and sustainable food.  Mark your calendars! The Global Index will be published on November 7th.    #GlobalNutritionIndex2024 #GI2024 #PublicHealth #FoodSafety #Nutrition

As Will Sharp shared, "The 2024 Global Index represents the culmination of ten years of learning in assessing whether food and beverage manufacturers are doing what needs to be done to improve access to nutritious foods worldwide." 🔍 The Global Index 2024 draws on over a decade of experience in assessing food and beverage producers, promoting healthier food sales, and advancing nutrition for all. It features a broader assessment of companies and products, alongside a more impact-focused methodology. We hope this publication will guide the industry by highlighting areas for improvement in current practices and outlining a clear roadmap for further transformation of the food market. 👉 Check previous indexes here: https://lnkd.in/eKm-3TBR ✅ Register for the upcoming webinar with the Financial Times for the launch of the Global Index 2024 on November 7! https://lnkd.in/emt7AZbD   #GI2024 #nutrition #health #food #healthyfood

🥕 We're pleased with the release of the 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱, 𝗗𝗶𝗲𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗯𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, which marks a strong step toward addressing public health challenges. 🧑⚕️ At ATNI, we welcome the call for greater governmental involvement in good food policy and regulation and NCD prevention, and we fully support the ban on advertising unhealthy foods. These recommendations, including mandatory reporting on the healthiness of food sales, align with our mission for healthier, more affordable food systems. For example, it is outlined in our latest open letter published by BMJ: https://lnkd.in/emJfTcuy 📚 We’re also excited to announce the upcoming release of our 5th Global Index 2024, which evaluates the healthiness of food portfolios from 30 companies worldwide. Stay tuned for the publication on November 7th! #FoodPolicy #Nutrition #PublicHealth #FoodSafety #GI2024 🙌 Congrats to Christina Vogel, Sophie Lawrence and the Investor Coalition on Food Policy, supported by The The Food Foundation , for their contributions to the HoL report.

The eagerly awaited House of Lords Committee on Food, Diet and Obesity report has landed today.   The Investor Coalition on Food Policy gave oral and written evidence to the enquiry and we are delighted to see our recommendations feature heavily in the report, including:   - To make a decisive shift away from voluntary measures, to make it mandatory for large food businesses to report on the healthiness of their sales. - To reshape the incentives for the food industry through a coherent, long-term set of policy interventions, including considering an extension of the Soft Drinks industry levy to cover sugar and salt.  - The need for a whole-government approach to deliver a long-term food strategy, with support at the highest level.
