🌱 Transforming Pepper Cultivation in Indonesia with aGROWforests We’re excited to share our latest video showcasing how the aGROWforests programme is future-proofing traditional pepper cultivation in Indonesia! 🌎 The project, developed together with our long-term partner Verstegen Spices & Sauces and supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, is actively contributing to protecting, restoring, and promoting the sustainable use of ecosystems - equipping farmers to face climate change while diversifying their income sources. 🎥 Watch and share the video here: https://lnkd.in/dD3yS5Hi Want to understand the programme in detail? A new case study is out, detailing what a farmer-centric approach to agroforestry adoption looks like in practice - with successes, and lessons learned. 📃 Download the #casestudy: https://lnkd.in/dXEN4giJ We believe in the power of collaboration and are eager to learn from similar projects. If you have insights or experiences to share, make sure to drop a line to the aGROWforests project manager, Josje Spierings. 🎬 Kyo Umareta #ClimateChange #SustainableAgriculture #PepperCultivation #EcosystemRestoration #Collaboration #aGROWforests

Fairfood uses what we like to call 'tech for good', like blockchain technology, to fix our food supply chains.
Over ons
Wij zijn Fairfood, en wij zijn gek op eten. Daarom maken wij ons hard voor eerlijk eten, voor een voedselketen waarin iedereen meetelt. Let's fix the food system!

🚨 The #Omnibus Package threatens corporate accountability – and the livelihoods of millions of smallholders worldwide. Instead of moving us closer to fairer purchasing practices and decent incomes for farmers, the European Commission’s Omnibus simplification package pushes us further away. This proposal risks gutting the #CSDDD—weakening due diligence requirements below OECD and UNGP standards. It turns corporate responsibility into a box-ticking exercise, making it even harder to ensure fair supply chains. If adopted, it would: ❌ Limit due diligence to direct suppliers, ignoring where the worst human rights and environmental abuses happen. ❌ Strip away corporate accountability, leaving workers, farmers, and communities without access to justice. ❌ Create legal uncertainty for businesses already investing in responsible practices. Let’s be clear: this isn’t simplification—it’s a weakening of laws designed to drive real change. 🎥 To understand what's at stake, watch the webinar organised by the World Benchmarking Alliance ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eeHK3bqa. At Fairfood, we work closely with smallholder farmers and businesses proving that supply chain due diligence isn’t just possible—it’s necessary. The EU must uphold its commitment to responsible business, stronger protections for workers and producers, and a truly fair global economy. Let's keep calling on all co-legislators at the European Parliament and at the Council to reject the Omnibus Package and preserve the core elements of the CSDDD. Strong rules mean fairer value distribution, better livelihoods, and responsible business practices that benefit everyone. #NoToOmnibus #CorporateAccountability #FairValue #HumanRights #DueDiligence WWF European Policy Office European Coalition for Corporate Justice ShareAction MVO Platform Solidaridad Network

Breaking: EU Commission kills sustainability laws in a scandalous move to appease big business 🚨 Ursula von der Leyen's European Commission just released its Omnibus proposal to 'simplify business rules' - by which it means throwing human rights laws out of the window. While companies cry 'burden' about sustainability regulations like the CSDDD, our recent research shows compliance costs are just a fraction of their profits: https://lnkd.in/eJ3iSVuV 📣 We call upon the European Parliament and member states to put a stop to these plans, which will dramatically harm workers, communities, and the climate. #NoToOmnibus #OmnibusProposal #EUCommission #CSDDD #CSRD #EUTaxonomy European Coalition for Corporate Justice Friends of the Earth Europe Greta Koch Axel Voss

🍫 This Wednesday, The Living Income Community of Practice, Fairfood and IDH co-hosted the Living Income Afternoon during Amsterdam Cocoa Week. The afternoon was full of dynamic discussions, actionable insights, and a shared commitment to driving change in the cocoa sector. 🤝 During the 'Farm and Value Chain Strategies' session, panellists shared practical examples of how improved procurement practices can enable #LivingIncome while addressing long-standing risks in the industry. Key to this were partnerships and collective action. 🌱 The 'Fostering an Enabling Environment' session tackled one of the sector's most pressing challenges - historically high #cocoa prices that are not translating into benefits for the farmer. Experts from governments, private sector, and civil society reflected on how pre-competitive collaboration and governance can integrate climate resilience and adaptation into living income strategies. 📌 The event also saw VOICE Network launch their new publication on Good Governance for Living Income in Cocoa. Find the resource in English, French, and Spanish on their website: https://lnkd.in/ga5b-SE4 ‼️ We're compiling learnings from the afternoon to share with you. Stay tuned to access these! A massive thank you to our speakers for sharing their expertise and insights: ▪️ Charlotte Bernhard (Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken) ▪️Antonie Fountain (VOICE Network) ▪️Regis Meritan (European Commission) ▪️Andrew Kojo Morrison (Solidaridad West Africa) ▪️Emily Stone (Uncommon Cacao) ▪️Abdulahi Aliyu (Rikolto) ▪️Lieke Guinee (Beyond Beans Foundation) ▪️Raymond Katta (Produce Monitoring Board Sierra Leone) ▪️Isabelle van Tol (Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken) ▪️Stephen Ashia (ABOCFA Cooperative)
