Over ons
Founded in 2015 by Rodolfo and Lija Groenewoud van Vliet, In4Art is interested in that place where science, technology and the arts meet. Its work focuses on creating space for experiments that enable responsible innovations to be envisioned and brought into being. In4Art is driven every day by the need to increase the impact of art in society and the economy by bringing about systematic change that contributes to the circular economy and next-generation internet. A peculiar mix of researchers, creatives, and business developers, it does this by searching for overlooked perspectives and unexpected solutions that can change the world for good; it collects them, partners in their further development, and shares their transformative potential. The In4Art approach is rooted in a steadfast belief in the power of artistic experiment combined with rigorous research and a practical perspective on the need to create lasting value. This led to the development of the Art-Driven Innovation method for innovative idea generation and a bottom-up approach to actively developing responsible innovations.

The AIR Festival in Badalona (October 26-27) marked the culmination of our 10-month STARTS AIR artistic experiment residencies. Nine artists, supported by various scientists, presented their work at the intersection of art, technology, and science, exploring #AI, #bioacoustics, and #human-nonhuman communication. The festival itself became an experiment in presentation formats, transforming artistic experiments into a curated 2-hour show. Guided by the Kaliope 2 app developed by @Fundación Épica La Fura dels Baus, the audience embarked on a journey through various stations of knowledge and experience. The format merged live performances, technical demonstrations, artist talks, and interactive applications, inviting visitors to physically engage with the works – walking, sitting, standing, and even dancing with machines. This approach offers a compelling new model for presenting scientific progress and artistic developments. It creates space for curiosity and allows audiences to connect with complex developments on both intellectual and emotional levels, while acknowledging these works as prototypes and seeds for further investigation in their respective fields. Our special appreciation goes to the nine artists who shared their research, to Mauricio Valdes from HekaLab for the spatial sound, to the technical team of La Fura dels Baus, and thanks to all our partners for supporting this innovative format and the collaboration. The accompanying reels offer just a glimpse of selected moments and artists. Stay tuned for more comprehensive documentation and visuals that will showcase all nine works in detail. 📼Credits _Featured artists Filippo Nassetti / Natan Sinigaglia / Antoine Bertin _Footage Isabel Vilalta / Júlia de Balle / In4Art ☁️More at starts.eu/air _Partners STARTS / Fundación Épica La Fura dels Baus / Barcelona Supercomputing Center / Media Solution Center / PiNA / In4Art / RCR Arquitectes / Sony CSL (Rome) / HLRS - High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart The AIR project is funded by the European Union from call CNECT/2022/3482066 – Art and the digital: Unleashing creativity for European industry, regions, and society under grant agreement LC-01984767 #ai #artdriveninnovations #festival #resilientinterspecies #urbanecosystems #HumanAIinteractions #air

Next week, during two nights, in a massive tent, a unique show will be performed in Badalona. On the evening of Saturday 26 October and, a second chance, on Sunday 27 October, from 18.30 until around 21.30. Join us for the STARTS AIR Festival at Fundación Épica La Fura dels Baus in Badalona (BCN). We will be there with both our founders, as will all of the artists and collaborators. If you can make the time, we promise you it will be worth it. Plus it would be very nice to see you (again). The AIR Festival is a groundbreaking event showcasing the visionary work of 10 international artists in collaboration with scientists exploring two key themes: resilient interspecies urban ecosystems and Human-AI interactions, offering innovative and artistic perspectives on shaping sustainable futures. The show is a spectacle of experimentation, science and art on the edges of our known worlds. Emerging as the culmination of a unique international collaboration between internationally acclaimed artists, scientists from Supercomputing Centers BSC and HRLS, MSC, SONY CSL and HEKA Labs for ambisonics, and experts in art (Épica la Fura dels Baus), architecture (RCR Labs) and art-driven innovation (In4Art). During the show, you will witness some cutting edge experiments at the frontiers of science and technology. We will enter the body and explore the inner breathing architectures, up to the tiniest tissues in our lungs. We will go outside and, for the first time, be able to see the magnetic fields our telephones create when we walk down the street. We will go on a meta walk through a digital city inhabited by species that define our urban ecosystems. We will experience what it is like when one can modify ones voice in real-time by treating the voice as a digital instrument. We will learn how AI sees our movements and tries to make sense of its most subtle patterns. We will explore when personal space ends and crowd space begins through a spectacular new way of using AI to understand personal space infringement. + INFO and REGISTRATION at https://lnkd.in/dK_y_cHr STARTS / Fundación Épica La Fura dels Baus / Barcelona Supercomputing Center / Media Solution Center / PiNA / In4Art / RCR Arquitectes / Sony CSL (Rome) / HLRS - High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart #ai #artdriveninnovations #festival #resilientinterspecies #urbanecosystems #HumanAIinteractions #air S+T+ARTS AIR project is co-funded by the European Union from call CNECT/2022/3482066 – Art and the digital: Unleashing creativity for European industry, regions, and society under grant agreement LC-01984767.
