Spaces, Stories, and Collaboration: Reflections on a Year of Impact! This year, we kicked off with the delivery of three new buildings for Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven, transforming the campus into an open, green learning environment—recognized with a nomination for Architectenweb’s School Building of the Year award. We also celebrated the start of construction for EDGE Coolsingel, Rotterdam’s largest Net Zero building, and submitted building permissions for exciting projects like the Matrix Innovation Centers - office and laboratory space for deep tech entrepreneurs in Amsterdam and Port of Rotterdam. We continued working on meaningful transformations such as the 80.000m2 Palace of Justice in The Hague and started with the Rotterdamse Citrusveiling, which is set to evolve into a vibrant cultural hub and also hosted the celebration of our first anniversary in summer, where we brought together contemporary dance, art, and music to mark this special moment with our team and collaborators. In urban planning, we continued shaping projects like the Utrecht University campus, Bio(tech) Diversity Campus in Delft and the 17 hectare „factory of the future“ BIC Cluster 2 in Eindhoven, contributing to the future of sustainable and connected cities. A heartfelt thank you to our collaborators and team for making this year so rewarding. We look forward to further developing our projects and taking on new challenges, such as the transformation of RAI Amsterdam and a soon-to-be-revealed project in #Berlin. Bring on 2025!

Building the Bio(tech) Diversity Campus in #Delft Curious to see how the Bio(tech) Diversity Campus is taking shape? We’re excited to share new visuals of this transformative project, where our 140,000 m² masterplan is guiding the evolution of an industrial site into a thriving hub for innovation and a home to startups, scale-ups, SMEs and long-established companies in the field of industrial #biotechnology. The new campus embraces diversity in every sense—flora, fauna, buildings, people, and workplaces—while driving nutrition, health, and sustainability progress. This transformation's core is a flexible framework that blends adaptability with clear spatial elements, ensuring space for long-term growth without losing its distinct identity. The first milestone within our #masterplan, the DSM Sunlight Building (architectenbureau cepezed | De Vries en Verburg), has now reached its highest point during construction, whilst the next building is already in planning. These mark exciting steps forward as the campus grows into a vibrant space for co-creation. dsm-firmenich

The Orchard II in #Rijswijk: Progress in Motion In for an update from the construction site of The Orchard II? Located near the Rijswijk train station, this residential block is part of the ongoing transformation of the ‘In de Bogaard’ district into a welcoming, mixed-use neighbourhood. The building’s shape is gradually emerging, with setbacks that spiral gently around its form to create a #rhythm of terraces and balconies, offering varied outdoor spaces for residents. The green brick base starts showing its rich texture and depth, grounding the building with a distinctive character. It’s rewarding to see the design evolve as construction progresses. We’ll continue sharing updates as The Orchard II approaches completion. Project Size: 12,300 m² BVO 3W real estate | AT Capital Pte. Breaking Ground on EDGE Coolsingel! Last Friday, we joined EDGE in celebrating the official start of #construction for EDGE Coolsingel, Rotterdam’s largest #NetZero building. Located on the prominent boulevard in the city centre, the project aims to respectfully reinterpret the original design by J.J.P. Oud, inspired by El Lissitzky’s visionary work, and translate it into the 21st century. Our design connects with the #rhythm of the Coolsingel, featuring a layered composition with a dynamic façade that interacts with light and offers views of the City Hall, located directly opposite. The atrium fosters interaction and integrates art, echoing the historical interplay between architecture and creativity. On that note, we’re excited to support EDGE’s #ShowMeYourHeart competition, inviting Rotterdam’s artists to transform the construction hoardings into a public art gallery. With a massive 11x2 meter canvas, this initiative highlights the city's vibrant artistic spirit. Check out www.showmeyour.art for details—your vision could become part of Rotterdam's future. Under One Roof: A New Icon for Havenbedrijf Rotterdam N.V.! We’re excited to share our design for Port of Rotterdam’s new building in the Eemhaven! With the building permit submitted, this project brings together offices, workshops, and storage under an innovative mass timber roof. The roof serves as both a symbol and a practical feature—harvesting solar energy, collecting rainwater, and introducing space for new technologies like drones and wind turbines. Inside, the building’s social heart fosters collaboration through informal meeting spaces, while the technical heart supports port operations with areas for working on large equipment and loading vehicles. Together, these hubs enhance team cohesion. Warm timber interiors, large windows, and waterfront views create a natural, healthy environment for users. Thanks to our collaborators: Adviesbureau Lüning, Buro Happold, Timo Cents, and DGMR!

An Urban Statement for the #Zuidas! We’re thrilled to fully unveil our latest project, the Matrix Innovation Center, on #Amsterdam’s dynamic Zuidas! With the building permit now submitted, Matrix is set to bring a new vision to the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) campus by giving back to the city through inviting public spaces, circular design, and user well-being. In contrast to the dense, monolithic blocks typical of the Zuidas, Matrix Innovation Center opens up space for the community. Its intersecting volumes create generous corners and setbacks, including a spacious urban square on Boelelaan. This design invites people to pause, connect, and enjoy a moment in the city—a rare and valuable addition to the area’s urban fabric. By creating accessible spaces, the building contributes positively to the neighbourhood’s vitality. Adding to this, the façade of reused roof tiles brings a warm and unique aesthetic to the corporate skyline. Inside, a three-story atrium fills the core with natural light, fostering community among scientific entrepreneurs, and featuring a roof garden and green spaces for rest and inspiration. #Matrix Amsterdam - Defining a New Aesthetic The Matrix Innovation Center (MIC) on Amsterdam’s #Zuidas aims to create an inviting, social, and healthy environment for scientific entrepreneurs, contrasting with the surrounding monolithic structures. A standout feature is the building’s earth-toned façade made from stacked reused roof tiles, making a strong sustainability statement while warmly inviting people inside. Creating this unique exterior element required extensive #research and #testing to understand its behavior, requirements, and workings, aiming for accurate calculations similar to brick walls. Our expert team—including TCKI, Adviesbureau Vekemans, Marc Bohle Gevelwerken, IMd Raadgevende Ingenieurs,—conducted comprehensive material tests and trial stackings and discovered essential similarities with standard brick walls. Key considerations included determining the best stacking method, the appropriate (lime) mortar type, and ways to reduce #CO2. Initial durability tests were positive, and subsequent tests on the tile-mortar combination highlighted practical aspects like wetting tiles before application and maintaining a cavity for ventilation. Ongoing tests, including thermal shock and tensile strength, aim to ensure the wall’s stability, durability, and a lifespan of over #50 years. A collaboration with STONE22, VKZ BV🔸, IMd Raadgevende Ingenieurs, Deerns, Baljon landschapsarchitecten, moBius consult bv, Building Revolution, Matrix Innovation Centers - office and laboratory space for deep tech entrepreneurs in Amsterdam. Reflecting on a Night of Creativity and Connection: #NOW! By Nudus Last week, we marked an unforgettable milestone at the #Citrusveiling, celebrating the dynamic journey of NUDUS' first year. Our event, NOW!, was an evening brimming with artistry, inspiration and fun. Hosting at the iconic national monument “De Citrusveiling” enriched our gathering with its historic charm. The eclectic group art exhibition featured works by designer JB Gambier, painter Viktoryia Shydlouskaya Dijk, textile artist Nanette de Kool, and photographers Rubén Dario Kleimeer & Christian Van Der Kooy. Their diverse pieces resonated deeply with us and our guests, sparking meaningful conversations. A highlight of the night was the premiere of "Spectra" by contemporary dancer and choreographer Reiko Ohta, alongside Mariona V. and Lukas Karvelis. Music by Ruben Kotkamp. The dance piece truly embodied the spirit of creativity and exploration we cherish at NUDUS. To top it off, the night was filled with beers by Kaapse Brouwers, delicious bites from Roffa Street Food, and groovy beats from DJ ensemble Octagon Blues, turning the Citrusveiling into a hub of joy and connection. - A heartfelt thank you to all our guests for making this evening unforgettable. We look forward to many more milestones together! Video by Thomas Jones
