Breaking! Rare video footage of the Oceans of Energy offshore solar farm below! Crosswind, the joint venture of Shell and Eneco, selected Oceans of Energy’s technology for their first in the world offshore solar farm to be combined with offshore wind and offshore storage. Four years of surviving the high waves of multiple summer- and winter seasons with heavy storms, in one of the roughest seas on earth, gave the Oceans of Energy offshore solar system a unique track record of the only robust, offshore-proven and scalable solar system in the world. Last month, a large CrossWindHKN team, shareholders and partners visited for the first time, the first piece of the Oceans of Energy offshore solar farm. It was a fantastic day!
Visiting the North Sea 3 farm at Oceans of Energy inspired the CrossWind team with innovation and new insights! The offshore solar system is designed for scalability and ease of installation and floats effortlessly on the water. We bring all the lessons learned and good practices to CrossWind's innovation project offshore floating solar with Oceans of Energy. CrossWind is developing the HKN floating solar project together with TNO and Oceans of Energy. Maria Kalogera, Innovations Manager: “It was a great experience to see the North Sea 3 project. The offshore solar project for CrossWind is ten times bigger than the solar panel farm at Oostende. It really gives an understanding of the scale of our project." Jeroen van Loon, Floating Solar Lead & BLPH Construction Lead: "It was good to learn more about the easy installation of this floating solar farm. It's much easier than usual for offshore wind where you need huge installation equipment." Allard van Hoeken, CEO Oceans of Energy: "It was fantastic to give our client the experience of walking around on the first offshore proven solar system in the world that survived the high waves of multiple summer- and winter seasons with heavy storms, in one of the roughest seas on earth. This system with a unique track record of 4 years continues offshore demonstrating, improving and surviving in the real environment, has been selected by CrossWind for their project, which makes us very proud."
