  • 🦌 𝘙𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘉𝘶𝘭𝘨𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢’𝘴 𝘚𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘳 𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴 With support from the 𝑬𝙪𝒓𝙤𝒑𝙚𝒂𝙣 𝙒𝒊𝙡𝒅𝙡𝒊𝙛𝒆 𝑪𝙤𝒎𝙚𝒃𝙖𝒄𝙠 𝙁𝒖𝙣𝒅, fallow deer are being reintroduced to the Sakar Mountains by the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB). Their return is helping to restore a more balanced and resilient ecosystem – supporting a mosaic of habitats and strengthening the natural food web for species like vultures, wolves, and golden jackals. As natural grazers, the deer help shape open landscapes that benefit many other species, from the European ground squirrel to the lesser kestrel. And with the numbers of wild boar and deer declining in recent years, their comeback also reduces potential predation pressure on livestock and helps support coexistence. A key part of this initiative is an important alliance: conservationists and local hunting groups are working together to make rewilding a reality. With shared responsibility for the deer’s release and monitoring, this collaboration is fostering trust, reducing poaching risks, and helping ensure long-term success. 🌿 #RewildingTogether 👉 Learn how deer recovery is reshaping the wild in Sakar: https://lnkd.in/eBxfJWPj 📷 Dimitar Gradinarov / G. • 𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗹! 🇵🇹📺 This Thursday night, Rewilding Portugal will take centre stage in a 25-minute feature on the country’s biggest TV news show, SIC's Grande Reportagem. Broadcast nationwide during Jornal da Noite, the item highlights how #rewilding is helping to restore nature at landscape scale, bringing back key species and creating more resilient ecosystems. Effective communication is key to shifting mindsets, building public support and engaging people from all walks of life. Since 2011, we’ve reached almost a billion people across Europe — and moments like these show how the momentum is growing. 💬 “𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘵, 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘪𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦, 𝘧𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘴 — 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭, 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.” – Rewilding Portugal 🎬 Watch the trailer below and - if you're in Portugal - don’t miss the full feature on 27 March! #RewildingPortugal #GrandeReportagem #JornaldaNoite #BuildingEngagement #NatureRecovery

  • 𝗔 𝘄𝗶𝗻-𝘄𝗶𝗻-𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗹’𝘀 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗮 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆! 🦅💚 For the first time, a landowner in the Greater Côa Valley has received a license to leave livestock carcasses in the field - thanks to the efforts of Rewilding Portugal. This milestone means that instead of costly removal, vultures like griffon and cinereous vultures can do what they do best: clean up naturally. 🔹 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘃𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: These majestic birds play a vital role in nature, keeping the landscape healthy by rapidly recycling carcasses. Rarer species, like the cinereous vulture, benefit too, as they can now access food without the competition at artificial feeding stations. 🔹 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀: Removing carcasses is expensive, time-consuming, and environmentally unfriendly. With this license, farmers like Albano Alavedra can legally leave them in open areas where vultures find them easily—saving money, reducing waste, and supporting biodiversity. 🔹 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆: Illegal disposal can lead to carcasses piling up in hidden areas, which attract wild boar and stray dogs, sometimes leading to conflicts and even poisoning incidents. Legalised deposition creates safe, controlled feeding sites, benefiting the whole ecosystem. This EU-approved practice is already restoring the natural #CircleOfLife in other European landscapes, and this first license in Portugal is an important step forward. With more approvals, we can help vultures thrive while benefiting people and nature alike. 💡👉 Learn more about this important breakthrough here: https://loom.ly/rAvf4Lo #Rewilding #Vultures #GreaterCôaValley #NatureBasedSolutions #Biodiversity #FarmersAndNature #Scavengers

🌿 Rewilding in Action: A Path to Thriving Ecosystems 🌍 Rewilding is more than just conservation—it’s about restoring nature’s own ability to thrive. By bringing back key species and allowing natural processes to shape the land, we can help ecosystems recover, build resilience, and support biodiversity. At Saksfjed Wilderness, we're using rewilding as a method to create a richer and more diverse landscape. Wild Exmoor horses and Galloway oxen have been introduced to help shape the habitat, making space for a greater variety of plants, insects, and wildlife. But rewilding isn’t just happening in Denmark. Across the world, our biodiversity partners are working in some of the most important ecosystems to restore nature, reintroduce species, and protect biodiversity hotspots. From forests and wetlands to grasslands and rivers, these efforts show that when we give nature the space to recover, it flourishes. Happy World Rewilding Day 🌿 🐎💦 For more about our work on biodiversity: https://lnkd.in/dx9juDN6 Explore how we're using rewilding as a method at Saksfjed Wilderness to establish some of Denmark's most important new nature: https://thewilderness.dk/ #WorldRewildingDay #Rewilding #Biodiversity #Conservation #Saksfjed #Wilderness #NatureRestoration #HempelFoundation #AcceleratingChangeTogether #ACT Hempel A/S Rewilding Europe, Grazelands Rewilding (former Stichting Taurus), Global Rewilding Alliance, Thor Hjarsen, Jens Thorving Andersen, Adam Sahl Søderdahl, Frederik Josefsen

  • 𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘆 🌿💚 As #WorldRewildingDay comes to a close (on our side of the globe), we’re revisiting a powerful message of unity and hope—one that remains as relevant today as ever. Created in collaboration with 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘛𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘺 for World Rewilding Day two years ago under the theme #RewildingHope, this message reminds us how rewilding offers hope for both today and the future. By joining forces and letting nature lead, we can ensure that nature and people flourish together. As we celebrate World Rewilding Day 2025 under the theme #RewildingTogether, let’s reflect on our shared commitment to a wilder, healthier world. #Rewilding is not just about today—it’s about every day, shaping tomorrow’s wild together. 🌍🌱💚 Join us in raising awareness of the benefits of wilder nature for wildlife, people, and the planet.

🌍🌿 Today is World Rewilding Day – a celebration of working together to restore our planet’s wild places! This stunning artwork by Jeroen Helmer captures the beauty and potential of rewilding. From grazing taurosses to pollinators, predators, and plants, rewilding is about restoring harmony in ecosystems and letting nature heal itself. This year’s theme, Rewilding Together, reminds us that rewilding is as much about people as it is about nature. Inclusivity is key: we need diverse perspectives and collaboration from every corner of the world to make this movement thrive. Rewilding strengthens communities, builds resilience, and inspires hope. Whether you bring back wild grazers, support wildlife corridors, or amplify marginalized voices in conservation, you’re contributing to a better future for all. 💡 What does rewilding mean to you? We invite you to share a symbolic photo that represents your vision of rewilding. Post it on Instagram using #rewildingtogether and tag @grazelandsrewilding. ✨ As a thank-you, the most inspiring three submissions will receive a Tauros calendar featuring breathtaking photography by Bert van Beek. Today, at #WorldRewildingDay, we would like to thank her wholeheartedly for her dedicated support, fantastic team spirit and lasting commitment to a wilder, more biodiverse Europe. 💚🌿🏡 🔹 “Wild nature is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. They say that nature finds a way, and it generally does. Yes, we are admittedly facing some huge conservation challenges in Europe and across the world. But more and more Europeans and global citizens are now standing up and giving the green agenda their passionate support. Nature is resilient – we just need to take a step back, change our values, and let it flourish once again. Nature is the best ally we have. And Rewilding Europe makes me hopeful.”  – Princess Laurentien van Oranje As nature works to its own rhythms, changing hearts and minds is a process, and restoring healthy, resilient ecosystems is a long-term journey. That’s why strong, enduring partnerships are essential to making rewilding happen at scale.   🌍 Today, at #WorldRewildingDay we 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 in light of the theme #RewildingTogether. Rewilding as a new and innovative approach to restoring ecosystems in a holistic way is on the rise, now becoming a burgeoning movement in Europe and globally.
