Technopolis France, along with Energie Demain, is proud to have collaborated with ADEME on a strategic study to assess the effectiveness of #EnergyRenovation financing schemes for people in #FuelPoverty, in particular the Prêt Avance Rénovation (PAR). In a context where the fight against fuel poverty is essential, our study highlights the obstacles that limit access to this aid for many low-income households, but also the opportunities for making it more accessible and effective. 🏠 Millions of households in France live in poorly insulated homes, with energy bills that are difficult to pay. The PAR could be an important lever for improving their comfort while reducing their energy consumption. However, the current formula, with its bullet repayment, remains little used by these households. 💡With a more flexible financial instrument, the prospects for adoption are widening. Our study recommends simplifying this scheme, increasing household awareness and encouraging banks to promote the PAR, with tax incentives planned in the 2024 Finance Law. Offering clear, accessible solutions, supporting low-income households and working with local players are the key to achieving a lasting, significant impact. Today, I had the privilege of speaking at the #ESPON Seminar in Budapest, Hungary 🇭🇺 where I highlighted the significance of Macro-Regional #Strategies, and why they matter. In my session, part of Workshop 3 on “Functional territories across Europe – Alpine, Carpathian, and Atlantic areas: their challenges and governance solutions,” moderated by Katarzyna Wojnar, I took the opportunity to present some results of our project "ESPON Orientations for the Development of an Atlantic Macro-Region" This project led by us, Technopolis Group Portugal 🇵🇹, aims to provide policy recommendations that foster collaboration beyond existing frameworks, such as the #Atlantic #Strategy. By developing a more cohesive and adaptable macro-regional strategy, we’re working to ensure that regional authorities and civil society are actively involved, allowing local voices to play a central role in shaping the future. This #ESPON seminar, under the theme “Ensuring quality services for all people and places,” opened the floor to discuss how to tailor infrastructure and services to meet the needs of remote and underserved areas. Through collaboration with the Hungarian Presidency of the EU Council, we explored insights into delivering essential services to mountainous, coastal, island, and sparsely populated regions. It was great to see these challenges represented through many visualizations and comprehensive analyses, sparking fresh ideas for sustainable development. Technopolis helped the Austrian Science Fund FWF improve the Emerging Fields programme funding processes to identify original, innovative, paradigm-shifting research proposals. We delivered an accompanying process evaluation of the programme processes to critically review the process end-to-end📈, identify strengths and weaknesses in design💪, and provide evidence-based recommendations to the FWF and its supervisory bodies on improving processes for the next EF call📊. FWF has published a plan to implement our recommendations: https://lnkd.in/d9HP8ZsS Our findings show that the #EmergingFields programme positioning and three-stage assessment process are well-designed and attract highly novel proposals. We provided recommendations to improve the transparency of the process. The evaluation approach employed a mix of methods - a desk review, application analysis, observation of hearings and jury meetings, surveys, interviews, and in-depth bibliometric and text analysis of applications. The latter used a novel approach to construct novelty indicators and assess the originality of applications. Curious about the other insights? 🏙️Wrapping up our first day at the Smart City Expo! #SCEWC24 👏Lots happened in Barcelona today! 📌 We announced partnerships with ASCEND Project and NEUTRALPATH project, building long lasting collaboration and synergies to better support cities. 📌We also discussed how NetZeroCities and the Smart Cities Marketplace will work together, in particular through the Climate City Capital Hub. This will allow cities to get a much easier access to services from both initiatives in a swift and integrated way. 📌 We also had insightful exchanges on how to drive the transition to net-zero in a just way, working with citizens, private sector and different levels of governments to make change possible. 💡Join us tomorrow and Thursday at the joint EU booth: Gran Via, Hall 2, Level 0, Street D, Stand 81.
