On 28th February, the aft part of NB 980 for Toyo Construction Co. Ltd. was launched and delivered from VARD Shipyards Romania - Braila and prepared for towing to Tulcea where it arrived on March 2nd. Here, the forward parts of the hull will be joined to the aft hull which his planned by end March. The state-of-the-art hybrid power cable lay and construction vessel is of VARD 9 15 design, especially developed for the need of the customer to cater for the growing Japanese offshore windfarm market, as well as to operate worldwide. 🌎   Toyos project management was present at the launching and expressed Toyos gratitude for the work performed by VARD. Steel cutting for NB 977 for Island Offshore. 🎉 On March 4, we marked the official start of construction for NB 977 at Vard Shipyards Romania - Braila. Roy Viggo Fjørtoft, Project Manager from Island Offshore, had the honor of pressing the button to initiate the cutting of the first steel plate - an exciting milestone in this project. The event was attended by representatives from Island Offshore and VARD. 🚢 The state-of-the-art hybrid power Ocean Energy Construction Vessel (OECV) is of VARD 3 25 design developed in close collaboration between Island Offshore and VARD. Today in Trieste, we held the award ceremony for #CALL4AIDEAS, our project to collect the best ideas for applying Artificial Intelligence to our processes and products. The project received an impressive amount of 300 proposals from colleagues across all Group companies and regions, demonstrating great talent and capacity for innovation.   From these submissions 15 finalists were identified. 5 of them have been selected by an internal commission, awarded by our CEO Pierroberto Folgiero, and will see their ideas implemented in the coming months. Pioneering the future of LH2-powered shipping 🌍 At VARD, we’re pushing the boundaries of maritime design! In collaboration with ArianeGroup, North Star, and 11 industry partners, we’re setting sail on a groundbreaking project: designing a Service Operation Vessel (SOV) optimized from the ground up for Liquid Hydrogen (LH2) operations. 🚢   A key milestone on our journey is achieving the AiP for our LH2-SOV, featuring innovative below-deck hydrogen storage. This breakthrough will not only redefine safety and integration standards but also provide us with an in-depth understanding of the unique challenges and vast opportunities that LH2 presents in maritime operations. "With this project we underline our commitment to be a leader in maritime decarbonization and demonstrate how we work closely with our customers and business partners to achieving common development goals.
