‼️ The essential questions you must ask BEFORE measuring anything Too often, organisations jump straight to developing metrics without laying proper groundwork. This creates misalignment between expected outcomes and what's actually measured. Our expert resources help you get clear about: ❔ Whether you truly need formal measurement ❔ Who your audience actually is ❔ What "good enough" means in your context ❔ How data availability impacts your approach ❔ The critical importance of data sovereignty Remember: Getting clear on these questions isn't just procedural—it shapes your decisions and ensures your performance measurement is fit-for-purpose. Download our "Mastering Measurement" guide and watch our measurement webinar – and stop wasting resources on metrics that don't deliver value: https://lnkd.in/gDnzQGid What question do you find most challenging when planning measurement frameworks? #PerformanceMeasurement #DataStrategy #PublicSector #EvidenceBasedDecisions

🔍 Over-engagement is as problematic as under-engagement. Is your stakeholder approach effectively calibrated? The stakeholder engagement matrix enables efficient resource allocation through strategic categorisation: ⬆️ High influence + high interest: Establish regular, structured engagement pathways ↘️ High influence + low interest: These stakeholders need focused engagement on specific topics ↗️ Low influence + high interest: Demonstrate consideration through transparent communication ⬇️ Low influence + low interest: Apply proportionate effort through periodic updates This differentiated approach prevents both the risk of strategic stakeholders being overlooked and resource wastage on unnecessary engagement. If you don't know where you are, how can you be sure where you want to end up? Successful continuous improvement follows a remarkably consistent four-step process, regardless of which fancy methodology name you prefer: 1️⃣ Understand your current level of performance - Get the facts. Hard data. Real numbers. No more "I feel like we're doing okay." 2️⃣ Determine why you have the current level of performance - Dig deep. Ask "why" until you hit bedrock. Your first assumption about the cause is rarely correct. 3️⃣ Develop pilot solutions - Test specific improvements targeted at root causes. Small experiments, not organisation-wide overhauls. 4️⃣Embed proven solutions - Make what works stick. Celebrate improvements. Create new habits. In our recent webinar, Darcy Mellsop explained "By properly understanding the problem in those first two steps, now we can develop a solution that addresses the root causes." The most common mistake organisations make is leapfrogging straight to solutions. It's like prescribing medicine before diagnosing the illness—you might get lucky, but you'll probably waste time and resources treating symptoms while the underlying disease continues. Successful CI requires patience in the early steps to ensure lasting solutions later.
