Connecting Buyers with Māori & Pasifika businesses

About us

Amotai has three main roles: We connect clients and buyers to Māori and Pasifika businesses; Amotai connects and matches public sector, private sector, iwi and non-government clients and buyers with Māori and/or Pasifika-owned suppliers. This is known as business-to-business (B2B) procurement. We build demand-side and supply-side capabilities; Successful supplier diversity and development requires that both the demand-side and the supply-side are ready and able to do this well. We provide practical advice and support to clients and buyers and Māori and Pasifika businesses. We promote supply chain diversity and development; Amotai also promotes and influences supplier diversity and development across Aotearoa. We play an important role in telling the story of supplier diversity and its benefits for clients and buyers, Māori and Pasifika economies and NZ Inc. Supplier diversity and development is a dynamic and evolving discipline. We are connected to the supplier diversity councils across the globe to ensure that policy and practice in Aotearoa continuously improves. This enables us to provide quality strategic advice on policy, legislation and programmes that support supplier diversity.

  • Tere ki tai, tere ki tua, traverse the tide out to sea, let it drift swiftly to the other side. Tere ki tua o te paewai o Tangaroa e hora nei, traverse beyond the waves where the oceanic horizon exists. Tere ki tua o te tāepaepatanga o Ranginui e tū nei, traverse beyond where the sky hangs low and meets the earth. Nau mai ki Tere ki Tai Thursday, a new weekly Amotai series where we will bring you mātauranga (knowledge), raraunga (data) me māramatanga (insights) on supplier diversity. Tere ki Tai is the world’s first indigenous supplier diversity assessment, so it is fitting that we begin this series during te wiki o te reo Māori. The Tere ki Tai Buyer Maturity Matrix is designed to inspire and guide organisations to become global leaders in supplier diversity. The tool provides a custom plan and practical steps to improve buyer impact.  Each Thursday our Capability Manager, Paul Tukukino, will share supplier diversity best practice as well as aggregate data insights cultivated from our Tere ki Tai survey results. INSIGHT #1: One third of our Amotai top tier members have completed Tere ki Tai. They have collectively spent $437 million dollars with Amotai suppliers over 1,461 contracts in FY23, creating jobs, new business opportunities and unlocking potential in Māori and Pasifika communities. This is an amazing result from our Tere ki Tai early adopters, however we know that there is still more data and spend to capture to give a more full picture of our supplier diversity accomplishments. Want to know more? Start your Tere ki Tai assessment today by commenting below, contacting your Supplier Diversity Lead or contacting Capability Manager, Paul Tukukino directly paul@amotai.nz. Next Thursday, Paul will share the first of six articles on ngā Pou o Tere ki Tai. Kia kaha te reo Māori, ake, ake, ake!! Hei tērā Tāite. #Amotai #SupplierDiversityNZ #TerekiTaiThursday #Akeakeake

Celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori with us, today is Waiata Wenerei with Amotai! Next up we have Retireti Mai - Raniera Blake, shared by our Capability Manager, Paul Tukukino. “I like this waiata because it is making our reo relevant for our rangatahi, making it more accessible, bringing reo into our ever evolving Ao. This waiata helps our rangatahi to see that being Māori is a superpower, that being Māori and te reo Māori can transition to modern day culture as well as staying true to who we are. It's also a catchy song.” Check out Retireti Mai - Raniera Blake 👇 https://lnkd.in/gMuFAEN5 #TeWikioTeReoMāori

Te reo Māori has been shared across generations, through storytelling, kapahaka, waiata and will continue to grow with our people, culture and environment. To celebrate te Wiki o te Reo Māori the Amotai team have been sharing their favourite waiata, so nau mai ki Waiata Wenerei with Amotai! Today we will release a series of waiata chosen by our tīma to get you vibing through the hump day. Starting off with Ngā Iwi E - Hirini Melbourne. https://lnkd.in/gdeMpM8U “Ngā Iwi E is a powerful anthem of unity and pride of Māori and the Pacific celebrating identity and resilience whilst promoting togetherness. I love that this waiata has been used for many historical protests and gatherings and is a sound that brings both tangata whenua and tangata tiriti together. It's just cool!” Proudly shared by Te Tai Tokerau Manuhuia Missy Armstrong. Stay tuned for the next! #TeWikioTeReoMāori

  • The Spinoff asked a big question about supplier diversity last week, 'Is this some new ‘woke’ initiative that won’t go anywhere?'. With nearly 200 buyers (most from corporate NZ), driving for a fairer Aotearoa, we think the answer is a resounding no. What do you think? Liam Rātana recently wrote about what is supplier diversity and why it is important. Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/g8Ruqujh
