  • We’ve launched a new Customer Charter, which better reflects what our customers have told us is important to them. We are one of only a few lines companies in Aotearoa/New Zealand that has a Charter. We are proud of our Charter as it shows our commitment to providing high service levels to those connected to our network. Our new Charter is simpler and easier to understand and is the result of an extensive review process that included public engagement last November. We’ve introduced new service levels like making sure can meet the increasing demand for electricity due to population growth and more people using electricity to reduce their carbon emissions, and helping people understand future energy choices and new technologies. We’ve retained the things customers have told us are most important to them, like being there 24/7, keeping them updated about any power outages, making it easy for them to connect to the electricity network. We will report publicly every year on how we measure up against the Charter commitments. You can find our Customer Charter on our website here: https://ow.ly/h6V250T2EUm

  • A big congratulations to Megha Senthilkumar (a Year 12 student from St Hilda’s Collegiate School) for taking home the Aurora Energy Best in Fair Award for a second year in a row, for her project on “Sleep and emotional wellbeing in adolescence”. Last year Megha conducted a nationwide study on how sleep affected adolescent students aged 11 to 18, surveying 249 schools across New Zealand. This year Megha took her study global, and involved 100 schools across Asia, including India, Thailand, and Japan, as well as Australia and New Zealand. Congratulations Megha on your impressive work! The Aurora Energy Otago Science and Technology Fair continues to be the largest fair of its kind in New Zealand, and this year attracted 282 entries from 18 schools, with a total of almost 350 students from around the Otago region. Well done to all the students (and parents and teachers!) for the many hours of time and effort that went into these projects – the judges were extremely impressed by the quality of the work put in, and we look forward to seeing what exciting ideas students come up with for next year! • This year we are celebrating our 20th anniversary as the prime sponsor of the Aurora Energy Otago Science and Technology Fair. We're proud to continue to foster science and technology in the Otago region. We've reached out to past winners to find out what they are up to now. Check out our Q&A with 2012 winner, Dr. Hamish McMillan, who holds a PhD in biochemistry and is researching breast cancer. Hamish shares what makes his job rewarding, his advice for students interested in a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), and even tells us about his winning project from 2012. You can read all the details in our Q&A feature with Hamish on our website: https://ow.ly/3EjT50SJFfI #STEM #Otago #Science #Technology #20Years

We’re proud to support the inaugural event ‘Electrifying Queenstown’ in partnership with the Queenstown Chamber of Commerce and Destination Queenstown. 🌿🔌 The focus of the event is to present the Queenstown Lakes business community with the long-term economic benefits of electrification, as well as knowledge and practical solutions to support their transition, paving the way towards a carbon-zero visitor economy by 2030. Speakers include Mike Casey from Forest Lodge Orchard, Finn Ross from Lake Hawea Station, and Aurora Energy's General Manager of Asset Management and Planning, Glenn Coates, who will discuss how decarbonisation and electrification can have tangible long-term economic impacts for businesses. The event also includes a trade show where attendees can meet with local businesses and hear about the steps they are taking on their sustainability journey. • As winter approaches, we're committed to ensuring our customers and communities are well-prepared for the challenges the cold weather brings and are reminded of the importance of staying safe around electricity. Our new public safety campaign, 'Be switched on to safety,' aims to raise awareness and provide advice on topics like being prepared for power outages, staying safe in strong winds, keeping trees clear of power lines, being prepared for hazardous road conditions, and knowing what to do if a vehicle hits a power pole. As part of our winter campaign, we also provide advice on how to be smarter with free power deals and avoid overloading, as well as tips on keeping power bills down in the colder months. We encourage everyone to 'Be switched on to safety' through our adverts in print, online, on the radio, and on our website: https://lnkd.in/gBrCcFfb. Shout out to Walsh & Beck Creative Agency for their fantastic work on this campaign. For more winter safety tips, visit: https://lnkd.in/g5ni5C49 #AuroraEnergy #PublicSafety
