The fully convertible temperature-controlled space can accommodate temperatures ranging from -25°C to 15°C. Strategically located in the Ruakura Superhub, the new facility is next to the new SH1 dual carriage way, the key transport corridor between Hamilton and Auckland. The site is adjacent to the Ruakura Inland Port, providing a seamless link to the Ports of Tauranga and Auckland, allowing the facility to better service both the export regions and the key import markets in the North Island. Maersk customers including massive players such as Fonterra and Alliance Meatworks are now able to deliver their goods directly to the facility where they are maintained in the cold chain or blast frozen, ready for export. Head judge Andy Evans says that this new facility will have a massive impact on productivity. “The site can send freight directly to a ship in either Auckland or Tauranga via the inland port, via rail or via road. The project was purpose-built to deliver public housing for older individuals or people with disabilities as there were few suitable solutions for these groups as the existing housing portfolio did not meet their modern living requirements. The project team consulted closely with stakeholders like Age Concern to ensure the design functioned well and would meaningfully meet the demand for older people requiring accessible homes. Built on a site previously occupied by four earthquake-damaged homes, the development comprises a three-level apartment containing 15 one-bedroom units and five one-and-half-bedroom units for residents who need a carer or whānau support. NZ Post has opened its state-of-the-art processing centre and international gateway in Wiri, Auckland, with domestic parcels now being processed on site using world class technology. International parcel processing will follow soon. NZ Post Chief Executive David Walsh says the Auckland Processing Centre (APC) has more capacity than any parcel sorting facility previously seen in New Zealand. “NZ Post is evolving to meet the needs of New Zealanders. RCP was delighted to join New Zealand Blood Service at this morning’s blessing for their brand new Tauranga donor centre along with Manawa Energy and their new office space at 93 Cameron Road. This a great milestone for all involved, and a key building in the development of Tauranga city.
