How good is it to see the grand facade of the Waikato Regional Theatre - even if just momentarily? Taking down the massive supporting struts that have held up the iconic Hamilton Hotel facade for the last couple of years is a clear sign that the building is progressing well; the original structure (built in 1923) now fully supported and reinforced by the new build. 👏 Get yourself down to Victoria St to take a look, because the facade will soon be covered up again - for the final restoration work. More detail on progress in the article below ⤵ Momentum Waikato Community Foundation Charcoalblue Jasmax RDT Pacific #NZConstruction #Waikato #WorkInProgress

Following its commendation as Gourmet Traveller’s Best New Restaurant, King Clarence in Sydney has been recognised in the 2024 Eat Drink Design Awards, shortlisted for Best Restaurant Design. Designed for The Bentley Restaurant Group by Jasmax and Pascale Gomes-McNabb, King Clarence is a 100-seat Asian-inspired restaurant sitting on the corner of King and Clarence Streets like a floating lantern. ‘The new restaurant design for the converted 1970s bank tenancy stitches together old and new elements with glimmers of the myriad food and design influences from the far east.’ Images © Murray Fredericks https://lnkd.in/gki-WZnX

On this year’s World Mental Health Day, we are proud to unveil Ihi Ora for Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora – a newly completed community mental health centre focused on restoring wellbeing through connection to nature.   Located adjacent to the Auckland City Hospital campus, Ihi Ora provides a range of clinical services for adults suffering moderate to severe mental illness or psychological distress. The 1,500sqm, two-storey centre increases Te Toka Tumai Auckland Community Mental Health Services’ capacity to develop effective models of care and will accommodate growth, addressing the increasing requirement for mental health support in the community. The design places hauora (wellbeing) at the forefront to provide a calming and therapeutic environment for clients and whānau seeking treatment, with an overlay of safety and security. This year’s Mental Health Day, the World Health Organization (WHO) is highlighting the vital connection between mental health and work, which has been a key consideration underpinning the design of Ihi Ora. The centre supports a collegial workplace environment with high visibility and safe working conditions for staff members, who include psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists and social workers. Safe, healthy working environments can act as a protective factor for mental health. The arrangement of spaces capitalises on the building’s unique connection to Pukekawa (Auckland Domain), optimising views to the mature trees and drawing greenery into the heart of the centre. Therapy spaces overlooking Pukekawa take inspiration from Māori rituals and practices of pure – the removal of tapu through reconnecting to te taiao (the natural environment) to calm the wairua (spirit, soul) restoring a state of tau (balance). Jasmax, IPA Partners and TCubed Consulting were recently engaged by People, Place and Partnership Pty Ltd to develop a visionary Strategic Destination Plan to transform the areas of Coonamble, Gilgandra and Warrumbungle in New South Wales into a distinctive, regionally recognised tourism destination. The plan envisions a series of placemaking and infrastructure initiatives that celebrate the region’s unique natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and community spirit. Bringing experience of regional tourism and working with First Nations peoples in Aotearoa New Zealand, Jasmax worked closely with PPandP to facilitate engagement with the local communities and indigenous peoples of Wiradjuri, Kamilaroi and Wailwan to align the visions with community aspirations. Following these sessions, a series of catalyst infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the region’s tourism appeal were identified, predominantly focused along the Castlereagh River, which connects the three towns. Together, the initiatives within the Strategic Destination Plan focus on encouraging sustainable growth, regional resilience, and economic diversification. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gAP_KfSb

✨𝗙𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀  ✨ At Jasmax, we're passionate about inspiring careers in design, the built environment, and nurturing our relationship with Victoria University of Wellington Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation. Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting our semesterly Crit Culture event at our Te Whanganui-a-Tara studio and participating in Victoria University of Wellington Careers and Employment Careers in Focus events. 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 It was inspiring to see incredible pieces of mahi from Māori and Pasifika students as they navigate the opportunities and challenges in their studies. The spirit of whanaungatanga and the vulnerability that is shared fills us with aroha and leaves our kete overflowing with mātauranga. 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 It was a pleasure to kōrero on a panel with other graduates from various disciplines. Then connect with students in a speed networking format discussing career pathways. Sharing insights from my journey in architectural practice, alongside my experiences as a group fitness instructor, was an enriching experience. 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗜 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱: ⭐ Embrace Being a Work in Progress A great lesson I’ve learnt from Mandi Hirini in group fitness, that has helped in all pursuits. Stay curious. Ask questions.
