Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming visionary engineer Dr. Stella Clarke to BMW New Zealand. Dr. Clarke, who has led a variety of visionary projects at BMW Group, shared valuable insights into the cutting-edge design process behind some of BMW's most innovative new technologies, including the creative use of ‘E Ink’ technology, which enables a vehicle’s exterior colour to change with a swipe of a smartphone touchscreen. This technology first appeared in black and white on the award-winning BMW iX Flow in 2022, followed a year later with the full-colour BMW i Vision Dee. This year, the technology was further developed to incorporate vibrant designs from the 12th BMW Art Car showcased on the BMW i5 Flow Nostokana Art Car. Dr. Clarke’s leadership is not only transforming the automotive industry but also breaking barriers for women in engineering and automotive, showing what's possible when creativity meets technology. Her visit left a profound impact on our team and paved a pathway for women in automotive to follow in her footsteps. As Dr. Clarke continues to inspire the next generation, we're excited to see what innovations she leads next.

Pioneering hydrogen tech since 1979 💡 Did you know that we’ve been working with hydrogen as a potential drive system for decades? These are some of our key milestones throughout history: 1979: A BMW 520 was converted into the first BMW test car to use liquid hydrogen as fuel. 2000: The first ever small series hydrogen car embarked on a "CleanEnergy World Tour" - an early hydrogen mobility showcase. 2014: The BMW 535iA Hydrogen was built to demonstrate zero local emissions, sporty dynamism, driving comfort, and long-distance suitability. 2023: A pilot fleet of the BMW iX5 Hydrogen took to cities around the world for testing and demonstration purposes. Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting Florian Kuenstner, Vice President MINI for the Region Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa, Kirsten Eckrodt, Regional Area Manager MINI, and Alexander Brockhoff, GM for MINI ANZ at BMW Group New Zealand. During their time in New Zealand, we provided Florian and Kirsten with insights into the New Zealand market and engaged in constructive discussions about the MINI business. They also had the opportunity to visit MINI dealerships in Auckland and Hamilton, strengthening the brand’s connection with its dealer partners. One of the highlights of the visit was Florian’s presentation at our All Associate Meeting, during which he shared his deep knowledge and passion for the MINI brand, and offered a comprehensive overview of MINI’s strong and growing presence in our region and globally. With the new generation of MINI products just arriving in New Zealand, it was inspiring to hear firsthand how MINI is navigating new challenges and seizing opportunities, all while remaining true to its iconic heritage.
