NAU MAI, HAERE MAI! Nikora and I have been working on this cool project here in the Waikato for the past 6 months. As part of our community engagement strategy, we are holding a series of community activation events around the Waikato region. If you work or own a company in digital and technology, or run an initiative or organisation that operates in the DT space, and you're based here in the Waikato region, we'd love to have you join us. We'll be sharing more about this important project, some of our findings so far, and more importantly we'll be sharing the ecosystem database in its current draft form. LINK TO PROJECT MICROSITE - https://lnkd.in/ggH4Y466 Project Title: Waikato Ecosystem Impact Mapping Project Overview Project Description: The supplier will perform an ecosystem scan of the digitech (digital and technology) sector and supporting organisations, initiatives and individuals, including those aimed at closing the digital divide as an enabler for pathways into the sector, in the Waikato Region. This will then inform the development of a database that will show existing capability and capacity building investment and sector stakeholders and initiatives as part of a current state including potential gaps and/or opportunities in terms of the collective impact of the sector. Purpose: -To identify digital and technology (digitech) stakeholders and initiatives within the Waikato region. -To identify supporting organisations, initiatives and individuals within the Waikato region including those aimed at closing the digital divide. -To compile a database listing of digitech stakeholders and initiatives. -To create an online resource that shows the existing relationship between capability and capacity building investment and collective impact of the sector within the Waikato region. Community Activation Events: ✅ EVENT 1. Tuesday 10 September, 2024: Community Activation (In-person) | ROTOTUNA, HAMILTON - https://lnkd.in/grGTbAEe ✅ EVENT 2. Wednesday 18 September, 2024: Community Activation (In-person) | TOKOROA, SOUTH WAIKATO - https://lnkd.in/gpzQytgA ✅ EVENT 3. We're delighted to announce that two new trustees, Tiare Aitken and Te Miringa Parkes, have been appointed to our Board. As part of our ambition to support the next generation of digitech thinkers and creators, two positions specifically for rangatahi have been created on our Board of Trustees. We predominately fund organisations who work with rangatahi experiencing digital inequity. These positions bring a youth voice to our decision making, alongside developing the next generation of philanthropic governance. Tiare and Te Miringa bring a passion for equity and a belief in the role technology can play in transforming social, environmental and economic outcomes for their communities. Nau mai, haere mai! #digitalequity #digitalexcellence #futureofwork #hellotomorrow

One year ago, we launched Poipoia to our multi-year partners, an initiative focused on the overall wellbeing of them and their teams. This initiative was birthed from listening to their needs and challenges at our annual hui. Poipoia offers two areas of support: Additional pūtea: recognising their dedication, additional funds (pūtea) are provided to invest in activities or resources that support wellbeing within their teams. This could include anything from team-building events, access to professional services to wellness workshops. Clearhead Access through Sparks Mahi Tahi Wellbeing programme: in partnership with Spark, our partners and their teams have access to Clearhead, a leading online mental health platform. Clearhead offers a range of resources and tools to support mental wellbeing. We're incredibly proud of the positive impact Poipoia has had on our partners. By prioritising their wellbeing, we're fostering stronger relationships and a more collaborative environment. As we embrace the season of Matariki, a time for reflection and new beginnings, we're delighted to announce Poipoia will continue for another year. Mānawatia a Matariki #Poipoia #wellbeing 👇🏾👌🏾

Running a kaupapa organisation reliant on funding, sponsorship and grants means things like “staff wellbeing” don’t usually get much pūtea put to them (if any). So, we were tiiino grateful for the pūtea tautoko from Spark Foundation solely focused on our team wellbeing. We planned a “Haerenga Hauora” deliberately after the Matihiko Awards so that we could have some time off after a very busy time. Our team is remote across 6 towns so we chose to visit Te Tai Poutini (West Coast) to bring everyone together. There we headed to the wai wera (hot pools), had mirimiri and visited Poutini Ngāi Tahu’s beautiful new Pounamu Pathway in Māwhera (Greymouth). It tells the stories of Te Tai Poutini beautifully. We highly recommend heading there! 💚 https://lnkd.in/gMEm6N78 Then, we drove to Hokitika where we carved our own taonga pounamu under the guidance of carvers Steve & Ra. We were grateful to be able to bless our taonga in the Arahura awa alongside mana whenua. We came home refreshed, full of new pūrākau and ready for the tau hou Māori. A heartfelt mihi to our awesome supporters for making this possible, Aroha Simpson, Kate Thomas and Mary Churchward and the whole Spark Foundation crew. E kore te puna mihi e mimiti! Thanks to the support of our partner, the Spark Foundation, our Manahautū Kemp Reweti recently graduated from Spark NZ's first AI for Business Mini MBA programme, alongside 150 business leaders from across Aotearoa. "The course was an opportunity to learn more about the potential of AI and assess the appropriate implementation of AI into the Pūhoro kaupapa. The knowledge and skills we gained through this programme will allow Pūhoro to be transformative and keep our fingers on the pulse of the fast-changing digital landscape. Our rangatahi are the future of the digital technology workforce, and it is important that we are able to equip them with the tools to not only meet its demands but also to allow them to become leaders in this field," said Kemp.

There's only 89 laptops in the Recycle A Device warehouse. That's critically low stocks. Do you have any sitting in a storage cupboard we can have? 👵 Less than 10 years old 🔌 With their chargers Laptops that are donated to RAD go to Entelar Group for data sanitisation, then out to one of 40 refurbishment clubs across the motu to be repaired and gifted to someone who needs it. What would your life look like without your device(s)? We rely so much on the digital world, yet 20% of us face barriers to being part of it. 📷 Some of the incredible ākonga at Horowhenua College getting stuck in and fixing up a laptop

It was our pleasure to host a shared reporting hui here last week so that Eteroa and Julia from FIBRE FALE could share highlights from their year with their funders. A big highlight for Eteroa recently was being recognised in the New Zealand Hi-Tech awards as the Hi-Tech Young Achiever of the Year. Back row: Nerrali Parbhu from Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Foundation, our own Jacqui Johnston, Kate Thomas and Aroha Simpson from Spark Foundation Front Row: Nu’uali’i Eteroa Lafaele and Julia Arnott-Neenee from Fibre Fale.
