📢 The EV4EU project was highlighted at the SMART SUMMIT Lagoa in the Azores, one of the largest innovation and entrepreneurship events in the 🇵🇹 island! #EV4EU was one of the projects mentioned by João Gonçalo Maciel from EDP NEW in the ‘Energy Revolution’ roundtable focused on R&D initiatives involving regional partners such as EDA and Direção Regional de Energia. The project was also given as an example by Fernando Henriques from EDA and Joana Rita from Direção Regional de Energia who shared the work being developed under the project at the demonstrator site in the Azores. 🔎 At EDA’s demonstration site, the project is testing EV Fleet Management for SMEs focusing on light passenger transport. With six charging points, the site will support a fleet of at least 32 electric vehicles and test Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) smart control strategies tailored to the needs of companies managing their fleets. ℹ️ More about the EV4EU Demo in this news article👇 https://lnkd.in/gAJMG7u3

Electric Vehicles Management for carbon neutrality in Europe. Funded by HorizonEU (GA No.10105676)🇵🇹🇸🇮🇬🇷🇩🇰🇪🇺
Sobre nós
EV4EU, a Horizon Europe-funded project coordinated by INESC-ID, aims to develop and implement new management strategies for electric vehicle mass deployment. These strategies will impact in the batteries, user needs, power systems, energy markets, and cities´ transformation. They will promote the coordination between electric vehicles and renewables, Greenhouse Gas emission reduction and the decarbonisation of the road transport. Using V2X (vehicle-to-everything) technology that enables the exchange of data and energy between the vehicle and its surroundings, EV4EU will develop tools and applications for the user, propose new types of chargers and develop an open platform for information exchange between systems, network and charging operators. The proposed V2X strategies will be tested in demonstrators installed in four different countries. EV4EU consortium is composed of 16 participant partners (+ 6 associated partners) across four European countries: Denmark, Greece, Portugal, Slovenia. EV4EU started in June 2022 and it will end in November 2025.

#energygird #EV #V2X #V2G #flexibility #energymarkets #greendeal #modelingtools #conference

💡Returned to office from two intense weeks of knowledge-sharing💡 Over the past two weeks, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to attend two significant events in the field of energy systems and sustainable transport as part of my PhD journey. Week 1: ISGT Conference in Dubrovnik where I was honoured to present my first paper. The paper "Implementation of priority-based scheduling for electric vehicles through local distributed control" provides the full control implementation for coordinated control of EV charging with improved efficiency and user satisfaction (https://lnkd.in/dS7FyXFM). This conference experience was immensely rewarding, providing valuable insights into EV charging infrastructure and electric grid integration. It was a pleasure sharing this journey with my esteemed colleagues Xihai Cao, Anna Malkova, Pietro Zunino, and Tommaso Reschiglian. I look forward to future collaborations with them! Week 2: NordNET Autumn School in Gothenburg on Modeling Energy System Integration and Sustainable Transport. This course offered deep insights into the possibilities within the modelling and allowed me to make numerous new connections. Two of the pictures are from the excursion to Volvo Trucks, showing their fuel cell and ICE hydrogen trucks for "long-haul purposes where electric trucks cannot compete." This statement was also made in the light-duty vehicle industry a few years back. Let's see if the heavy-duty transport will follow🤔. I want to thank the Otto Mønsteds Fond, the NordNET project organised Copenhagen School of Energy Infrastructure (CSEI), and the EV4EU project for making the travel possible. Now, I am processing all the two-week content and am looking forward to applying these new learnings and connections in my future PhD work!

Head of Section E-mobility and Prosumer Integration | Associate Professor in Distributed Energy Technologies
Back from NordNET PhD Autumn School: Modeling Energy System Integration and Sustainable Transport. https://lnkd.in/dSA9s47Q I had the pleasure of contributing to a very interesting PhD school organized by Copenhagen School of Energy Infrastructure (CSEI), with economic support from Nordic Energy Research. In my speech, I focused on the big picture, while also sharing my own prosumer perspective (always fun to tell and to listen to – maybe a TED talk in the future? :D). I showcased a limited set of the many research activities that we carried out in our research section with specific focus on the EU projects EV4EU and FLOW Project. We wrapped up the module with a Kahoot session, and against all the odds, “hydrogen truck” won the competition. Well, this is very likely the only competition a hydrogen truck can win… ;) A big shout-out to the organizers Jens Weibezahn and Alexandra L., the local host Sonia Yeh and all fellow teachers and participants that made the experience instructive and very pleasant. Slides are available here: https://lnkd.in/dER5ieK7 Additional takeaway: Göteborgs Stads Parkering AB o provided a simple and effective “all-in-one” app combining parking and charging in public areas, well done. 🌟 EV4EU highlighted at VEK 2024 Conference in Slovenia! Matej Zajc and Tim Marentič from the University of Ljubljana, presented the project during the Slovenian Energy Conference VEK 2024. 🔎 The talk focused on the opportunities and challenges of #V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) technologies and the development of flexibility markets, providing an in-depth overview of the 4️⃣ pilot sites of the #EV4EU project, with a focus on the 🇸🇮 demonstrator and the development of a local flexibility market platform. The presentation was based on a paper “EV4EU – Electric Vehicles Management for carbon neutrality in Europe: Opportunities and Challenges of V2X Technologies in Establishing a Flexibility Market” co-authored with Andreja Smole, coordinator of the Slovenian demonstrator at GEN-I, d.o.o., and Hugo Morais, project coordinator at INESC-ID. Team members Igor Mendek, Klara Anžur, and Dušan Golubović from UL also attended, further reinforcing the university’s commitment to advancing Slovenia’s energy future.
