In a recent panel discussion organised by Design Business Association (DBA) in London, Pernilla Johansson, co-founder of Centre for Organisational Creativity, shared strategies for integrating design within large organizations. She emphasized the importance of embracing the natural systemic complexity and designing a design org. that intentionally breaks down silos. Pernilla also discussed how to guide the organization towards cohesive and coherent experiences. She highlighted the power of: 1) A well-crafted Brand Design DNA that informs all touchpoints, from products to marketing materials. 2) Facilitating alignment and illustrating a compelling vision to guide strategic projects and impact business outcomes. 3) Systemizing design practices and connecting long-term product development with real-time data. Pernilla concluded by sharing examples from her own journey as a design leader. She emphasized the importance of starting every new assignment with a listening tour, setting a baseline, making change tangible, and evolving at the pace of the organization. #organisationaldesign #creativeleadership #systemicdesign

Yesterday was an incredible second day of the #SummitOfTheFuture! At the side event ‘Shaping the Future of Learning Now’, Kitty van der Heijden and I joined a distinguished panel focusing on addressing the critical need for digital transformation and innovation to tackle the global education crisis- the mission of our UNICEF Global Learning Innovation Hub. Grateful to our co-hosts, the governments of Finland, Ukraine, and Zambia, alongside Google, Khan Academy, OpenAI, for the incredibly inspiring conversations on the use of #ArtificialIntelligence and how emerging technology can be leveraged to scale up solutions for benefitting those with the greatest need. At the '#GlobalDigitalCompact (GDC) and the Future of Trustworthy Digital Transformation’ #UNGA79 event, co-hosted by UNICEF Innovation, World Benchmarking Alliance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores de México, we had intimate exchanges on the promise of the GDC as a blueprint for responsibility and accountability in digital governance across public and private industries- including tech corporates and investors- with a focus on #AI for social good. Across a range of diverse panelists and guests, we agreed the GDC is a good and important step of setting the expectations of responsibility and accountability, including the importance of open-source digital goods and infrastructure. A million thanks to all the co-hosts, speakers, partners and young innovators who have joined and contributed to the meaningful discussions during the second Action Day. In 2022 we headed to Estonia and Lithuania to explore the possibilities of expanding our network and activities in these countries. Today we couldn't be more excited about our journey, the people we met, and the organisations we got to work with. But to fully seize future opportunities, you need boots on the ground. So it is a great pleasure to share that we're welcoming Dr. Gintė Martinkėnė, ACC to our team. Based in Vilnius, she will be heading up our efforts in the Baltics. Gintė has a PHD in Sociology. She is a researcher and lecturer and also a post-doctoral scientific fellow. She works with teams and managers in public and private sector organisations, fostering personal growth and enhancing leadership competencies. An expert in organisational and individual development her strengths are leadership training, team building, and cultivating the power of positive thinking. Gintė is a Board Member of the ICF (International Coaching Federation) Lithuania, a Certified Breakthrough Business Coach, and a Certified 'Points of You' Expert. A warm welcome to the team Gintė

There's no shortage of posts and articles on LinkedIn with advice, tips and techniques on how to reduce stress. Most of these posts are predicated that we need to tame stress in business and personal life. Although stressors in business and life are often linked to several negative health outcomes, experiencing stressors can play a role in enhancing performance. As Nicholas Taleb puts it: "Some things benefit from shocks; they thrive and grow when exposed to volatility, randomness, disorder, and stressors" Taleb calls this Antifragility. Or as Nietzsche already famously wrote back in 1889: "That which does not kill us makes us stronger." As professionals, we understand we'll be exposed to stressors as a result of venturing 'into the new'. What may be new to some is that we can decide how to look at the challenges ahead. Rather than seeking comfort and reducing stress, the opportunity may well be in accepting a certain level of stress in the process and see it as fuel for your creative process — i.e. embrace the concept of "antifragility." The Antifragile Mindset of Next-Level innovators revolves around two key points: Embrace Change and Uncertainty: We like talking about change but typically, we prefer not being part of it. As Tim Ferris once said in his book 'The Four-Hour Workweek': “People would rather be unhappy than uncertain.” But in a rapidly evolving environment, learning to be comfortable with the unknown and to be curious (and courageous) to follow the rabbit hole is critical to quickly adapt and adjust to new challenges and changes on our path. Accept Running Into Trainwrecks As Part Of The Creative Process: Mistakes, dead ends, and failures. To learn from them rather than avoiding them is a critical precursor of innovation, entrepreneurship and success in general. Every wreck is evidence of anti-fragility at work, and means you're creatively getting somewhere. Don't shy away from experimentation and continuous learning on-the-go; Don't accept the tried and tested as final; seek new approaches, test the weirdest ideas, and fail forward. In contrast to a play-it-safe mindset, an antifragile mindset helps you unlock the creative potential of stress, adversity, failure, and setbacks and turn them into learning material that can be used to improve and expand your field of possibility. Picture: On this #internationalwomensday2024 we are celebrating Pernilla Johansson, Co-founder of the Centre for Organisational Creativity who is taking her weekly ice bath as a part of building an antifragility mindset. #stress #organisationalcreativity #antifragility #Creativity #creativeexploration #failforward #innovation #icebath
