Today, we’re rounding out our features on Access Fellowship Programme (AFP) mentors from SHEIN with Senior Legal Counsel, Benjamin Yeo! In his professional role, Benjamin serves as the legal business partner of the Public Affairs Department at SHEIN, where he provides legal support to key stakeholders in various aspects, including navigating regulatory issues and formulating publicity strategy materials. 📝 Reflecting on his personal journey, Benjamin appreciates that the guidance and support from his mentors have been invaluable in shaping his growth and development. Through the AFP, he hopes to pay forward this goodwill by sharing his own experiences and advice with students facing similar challenges in navigating their education and career journeys.  Recognising that finding one’s path can be daunting and filled with self-doubt, Benjamin believes that students can benefit by gaining a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses, and continually seeking self-improvements. He also recommends students to stay positive, and make full use of available resources to seize new opportunities and pursue their personal definitions of success. ☀️ Thank you to Ben and all our other SHEIN mentors for your time and dedication towards giving back to our Fellows. Now stay tuned as we get ready to welcome our mentors from Deliveroo in our next feature! Last Thursday, we ran the first session of our Access Mentorships Programme in collaboration with CHIJ St. Theresa's Convent and leading global engineering consultancy firm, Mott MacDonald. During this session, our students were introduced to the dynamic world of engineering. They gained invaluable insights into the diverse roles and projects at Mott MacDonald (including their work on the iconic Jewel Changi Airport!) and had the opportunity to connect with dedicated mentors from their Environment and Society, Energy, Project Strategy and Delivery, Transport, and Water teams. Additionally, our students enjoyed a curated office tour, which gave them a rare behind-the-scenes look at their working environment.  🏢✨ Over the next few weeks, our students will participate in various masterclasses on topics such as personal branding, elevator pitching, idea development, and resume building. Our Mentors will also be there to guide our students and help them hone their skills and build confidence in preparation for their futures. We are excited to witness our students’ growth as they develop critical skills and unlock new opportunities through this comprehensive programme. Stay tuned for more updates to come!💡 #AccessSingapore #Mentorships

For the second session of our ACE! Programme last week with Northbrooks Secondary School and Hepmil Singapore, Mr Isaac Tan, Hepmil’s Regional Creative Strategy Director conducted an enlightening workshop on Content Strategy Development and how it can be used to tackle our students' industry case challenge. Through this experiential session, our students gained invaluable insights on:  ✨ Why social media is so relevant in today’s digital age ✨ How to leverage different channels for different objectives ✨ What Hepmil is looking for in their challenge solutions ✨ The target audience they should be addressing Our students also progressed through three critical stages of their project development, which included:  💡 Project Analysis: Identifying unique content formats and outlining goals, activities, and outcomes using the logic model 💡 Project Research: Creating a SWOT analysis of the media landscape and designing Google Form surveys for primary research 💡 Project Initiation: Mastering brainstorming techniques and organising ideas based on feasibility, desirability, and value. A huge thank you to Isaac for leading this impactful content strategy workshop. We look forward to seeing our students apply their newfound skills and knowledge to develop exciting content strategies and products that connect with Gen Z and Gen A audiences! #AccessSingapore #ACEProgramme #ContentStrategy

In today’s introduction of our Access Fellowship Programme (AFP) mentors, we are thrilled to have the exceptional Charlene Lee!   Charlene currently serves as the Global Public Relations Director at SHEIN, where she leads the global content hub, building strategic corporate narratives, storylines, and media assets for their PR teams worldwide. She is also at the forefront of their crisis communications, tackling fake news and misinformation in today’s digital landscape.   Charlene understands the immense pressure that students face to conform to narrow success metrics, which often causes those who do not fit in to give up before having the chance to explore their own journeys. With a strong dedication to empowering young minds, she believes that mentorship, through programmes like the AFP, is key to reshaping our understanding of what success really means. She hopes that by sharing her personal background and journey (which included a career transition and a professional stint overseas!), she can help young people explore diverse pathways and be inspired to do greater things.   Interested to join us in making a difference? We are now well into the Access Fellowship Programme, and it has been delightful to witness the remarkable progress and growth of our Fellows as they hone their skills through our various masterclasses and workshops. Last Thursday, Mr Lewin Low, Project Consultant at Solve n+1, guided our Fellows through an engaging session on design thinking and problem-solving. During this experiential workshop, Fellows delved into specific frameworks and explored the importance of value creation to enhance their critical thinking skills. They then applied these concepts to real-life case studies and conducted their own in-depth analyses of their capstone projects.💡 Our dedicated mentors from SHEIN, Deliveroo, Constellar, and Schneider Electric also took time out of their busy schedules to guide our Fellows, and they were able to ask insightful questions to help them break down their problem statements and explore different creative solutions. A very big thank you to Lewin for conducting this fruitful session, and to all our mentors for supporting our Fellows on their AFP journey. We look forward to seeing them apply their newfound skills, and push the boundaries of their creativity and problem-solving abilities! 🚀✨ #AccessSingapore #AccessFellowshipProgramme

Last Wednesday, we had the privilege of running a Pathways programme with Jurong Pioneer Junior College and our wonderful partners at Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow. The objective? To expose our students to the legal industry through insightful sharings by professionals from the renowned law firm. Over the course of the half-day programme, our students had the opportunity to listen to esteemed speakers like Eunice Tan, Yvonne Khoo, Jerrold Poh, and Astha Malik, as they shared their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges in the sector, through the lens of a partner, associate, trainee, and head of human resources. We hope our students left with a better understanding of the different educational and career trajectories that lie ahead, and the importance of planning when constructing their own career paths. A very big thank you to our partners for their kind contributions and for taking time out of their busy schedules to guide and nurture our aspiring students! ✨ #AccessSingapore #AccessPathwaysProgramme

We are heading into Access' peak period as we kick off several concurrent programmes this month - but while it is a busy time, it is also a great reminder that we are making a significant impact on our youth! Last week, we launched the first session of our 5-week ACE! programme in collaboration with Northbrooks Secondary School and Hepmil Singapore. Our students were introduced to the media industry, went on a curated office tour, and had the opportunity to connect with dedicated mentors from Hepmil Singapore’s production, photography and videography, content, and business development teams. Over the next few weeks, they will also tackle a sector-specific challenge statement and work in teams to develop content strategies and products for Gen Z and Gen A audiences. We cannot wait to see the creativity amongst our student participants and look forward to watching their confidence and aspirations bloom! Stay tuned for more updates to come 🚀 #AccessSingapore #ACEProgramme

As we progress through the Access Fellowship Programme (AFP), we wanted to introduce some of the incredible mentors who have taken time out of their busy schedules to support our Fellows - so please join us in saying hello to Cloud He! Cloud is a Senior Marketing Specialist at SHEIN, where she provides training and support to new joiners. She is also involved in team development initiatives for her colleagues based in Thailand and the Philippines, and coordinates regional projects like logistics optimisation and IP infringement investigations. She was inspired to join the AFP as she believes programmes like this can help students build their confidence. She also felt she could leverage her skills to guide them in overcoming challenges and exploring their future career journeys. Despite working in marketing, Cloud originally studied Apparel Design and Merchandising in Temasek Polytechnic, as well as Public Relations in the US. She encourages students to follow their passions and never be afraid to make gradual changes to their plans, as long as they can move closer to their goals.
