It was a good week for Singapore Pavilion exhibitors and AAIS at inter airport Southeast Asia (Official Account). We experienced a doubling in the number of Pavilion exhibitors, positive feedback on the quality of contacts made, significantly increased scale of the show, and sustained interest in the conference sessions through till the last day. And to underline this, almost all our Pavilion exhibitors have already committed to the next show in 2027! We thank all our exhibitors and the event organisers for the great partnership for success. We were also pleased to participate in the development and launch of the new SS 708 standard at the show. SS 708 will help local manufacturers deepen capabilities in additive manufacturing for aerospace. Finally but not least, we were delighted to welcome to the Singapore Pavilion, our invited VIP guests from Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, INTERNATIONAL CENTRE FOR AVIATION INNOVATION, Changi Airport Group and Republic of Singapore Air Force. The frequency of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) interference is growing. This briefing to ICAO Council is unique for how it presented the perspectives from all round: operators (airlines) and pilots, air navigation service providers and air traffic controllers, and manufacturers. AAIS is an associate member of ICCAIA which represents OEMs and MROs. Message us to find out how you, as an AAIS member, can contribute to ICAO standards and regulatory development through participation in ICCAIA's ~50 technical committes. Also read ICCAIA's newsletter at: https://lnkd.in/ehANxE-u.
#ICCAIA joined International Air Transport Association (IATA), IFALPA, IFATCA and CANSO in delivering an informal briefing to the International Civil Aviation Organization Council on the growing challenges posed by #GNSS Interference and the urgent actions required to address the threat at the international level. IATA described the operational challenges faced by operators and highlighted the scope and rapidly increasing frequency of the issue. IFATCA highlighted the loss of aircraft contact and the difficulty in maintaining separation when the aircraft's location is uncertain due to GNSS interference. IFALPA shared firsthand experience from the cockpit when a system is compromised by spoofing. In addition, CANSO emphasized the importance of maintaining a minimum operational network of conventional navigation aids to ensure system reliability during GNSS disruptions – a position strongly supported in IFALPA's own presentations. Ben Linder from Boeing and Hughes De-Beco from Airbus spoke for ICCAIA, outlining short-, medium-, and long-term solutions to mitigate GNSS interference, ranging from improved technical information for operators to the development of reliable recovery. The discussion with the ICAO Council was lively and engaged, with an emphasis on actions. ICCAIA looks forward to further discussions and engagement and will be providing a technical talk at our Conference workshops next week.
