By day, Rosemarie is a dedicated paediatric Occupational Therapist (OT) at AWWA Early Intervention Centre. By night, she’s twirling gracefully across the ballroom floor! 💃✨ For Rosemarie, being an OT is more than just therapy—it’s about building trust and fostering a strong support network, much like the partnership she experiences on the dance floor. She shares that working hand-in-hand with caregivers, preschool partners, and her multidisciplinary team makes every step in her journey deeply rewarding. This World Occupational Therapy Day, we celebrate OTs like Rosemarie, who support their clients to achieve independence and live their fullest lives. Ready to make a difference? In the words of Boromir, "One does not simply walk into... a sea of purple without believing in inclusion". While I'm evidently not that good with quotes, my passion for building a more compassionate society that embraces diversity is probably one of my better attributes, and I'm thrilled to have been a part of the Purple Parade movement last Saturday. AWWA Ltd was well represented by four contingents made up of over 300 clients and their networks of support, volunteers, and corporate partners like BlackRock and Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) At some point, my wallet felt lighter, but my heart felt full when I purchased some specially designed AWWA School merchandise on sale, because I mean, no one can resist a sales pitch from our adorable student and budding artist, Ziqri! And speaking of strength at every age, it was a pleasure to have started the day by celebrating the Agency for Integrated Care (Singapore) Silver Generation Office's 10th anniversary. I'm particularly excited about the developments of Active Ageing Centres which were shared, as they will continue to play a pivotal role in ensuring that seniors age well, and in place in the community. Movements aren't always immediately successful. As Hahrie Han aptly explains, organisers have to adopt mobilisation to keep participants engaged, while mobilisers have to work with organisers to ensure things are done. It's been so heartening to see how SGO has successfully mobilised seniors effectively, and how the Purple Parade has continued to grow in significance over the years. The different shades of purple on display always remind that our society is made stronger because of the diversity, quirks, and dreams, every individual brings with them.
