A lot can happen in a year 👀 It was a busy year for us at Civils.ai: + 160,000 web visitors + 14,000 registered users + 96 pilots on construction projects All via organic growth and developed by our team Fadil, Mirko, Stevan & Xoe The developments in the AI and data science space over the past year has been exciting to say the least... From our experience, earlier in the year we would have needed to invest millions of dollars in R&D to solve a problem, then 3 months later a new breakthrough technology means we can solve that problem for cents. 🧠 We're super excited about 2024 and helping more project managers at AEC companies automate document management and coordinate construction information to avoid costly re-design on their projects. What I like about GenAI with Civils.ai is the multiplier effect it has for my team. Beyond my own productivity, it improves my project team's productivity by being able to move design discussions which are held up by a need to check the Code. It also empowers younger engineers/ architects and frees up time from senior engineers/ architects in answering code-based queries to work on problems which require deeper analysis and thought!

Another way that Civils.ai's GenAI tool helps me is in searching of drawings. Not having to sieve through LTA's SDRE or project drawings manually cuts down the time spent on that which can be better used on something else!

Today we launched a mobile version of Civils.ai for when you are on the job site 📱🏗️ Meaning even when your laptop is back at the office you now have access to your construction file management system from your phone’s web browser, with no app download. Get instant answers from CAD drawings, construction sequences, method statements and building codes. All answers are provided with references and you can download relevant files. This week we also launched our online training course 🎓 We realised for many people, they want to start learning more about AI applications in construction, before they actually consider applying the technology for themselves. With this in mind we created the ‘Construction AI Specialist’ Certification where we packed 3 years of our research building and applying AI on construction projects into 7 modules and a professional certification at the end of it. In the course we explain the fundamentals of how AI applications work and also how you can build your own with no-code tools and with Python scripts (giving you a beginners crash course Python, with no prior coding experience needed). I show you how to build your own set of Construction AI tools from scratch: 📋 AI to create bill of quantities from CAD PDFs - Creating an Excel of the BOQ ✍️ AI to analyse PDF construction contracts - Creating a table of risky clauses and a draft renegotiation letter. 🏗️ AI to write site inspections from photos - Creating a draft Word documents 🏛️ AI to restyle buildings with photos + prompt - Using diffusion models and image segmentation. Excited to announce we launched some major updates to Civils.ai the past few days, including searching PDF CAD Drawings! 🏗️ It took quite a bit of trial and error to develop, but our algorithm can now understand the geometry, labels and details from PDF CAD drawings, allowing you to search for something like “foundation thickness on building type A” (for example) and our system will find the thickness looking across all the drawings on the project. The idea is also that by using Civils.ai, you build an archive of company design details you can search across on future projects to avoid redesign. We also launched a sharing and collaboration feature, allowing you to share the archive with others within your company or team allowing anyone else to start searching across the project design brief or bid (for example). Our data extraction algorithm was also improved, so it's much faster to process documents, we can process 1000's of pages of PDF text or drawings in minutes now, although Geotechnical documents still take a bit longer to process.
