Singapore’s thriving healthcare innovation ecosystem of over 300 #BioTech and #MedTech startups, backed by a business-friendly environment and strong government support, provides global #healthcare companies a pool of ready partners. It is why one of the biggest global providers of clinical testing services, Labcorp, decided to launch their inaugural Asian edition of the #Startup Summit in Singapore last week. Eight Singapore-based startups showcased their diagnostic solutions in oncology, women’s health, and neurology. From detecting cancers early to enabling novel drug discoveries, these early-stage startups are bringing innovative technologies to advance medicine and therapeutics from Singapore. Supported by EDB, Enterprise Singapore, A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research, co11ab Novena and EDBI Pte Ltd, the Summit saw startups present their ideas to Labcorp’s global panel of technical, scientific experts, and R&D partners, for potential partnership and funding opportunities to help bring their solutions to market. Such collaboration opportunities add to Singapore’s MedTech and innovation ecosystem. Two weeks ago, co11ab had the privilege of supporting VentureBlick, alongside with KISED (Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development) and KSPO (Korea Sports Promotion Foundation), for an insightful three-day workshop. This event brought together Korean startups to learn about Singapore’s healthcare startup ecosystem. The workshop was incredibly enriching, covering various critical topics that can help overseas startups. It began by exploring how to foster effective partnerships and distributor networks, followed by designing clinical trial strategies that resonate with users. Lastly, key hospital clusters were introduced to help participants understand local healthcare needs, supported by case studies illustrating how startups can scale locally and globally. A big thank you to the speakers – Feras Mahdi MD, MPhil Mehdi from L.E.K. Consulting, Andrew Chou, MD, FRCS, Evangeline N. from Centre for Medical Technologies and Innovations (CMTi) and Kenneth Goh from JLABS – whose expertise made the presentations on the Singapore healthcare entrepreneurial environment both engaging and informative. #startups #healthcare #innovation #co11ab Hayden Ng Qinhan T.
