Through a recent collaboration with Central Narcotics Bureau, we brought together a mother and son for a painfully raw and unvarnished heart-to-heart. Susanty, an ex-user, and her son, Haziq, exchange heartfelt emotions, recounting her struggles and their journey as a family. Now that the haze of her addiction is behind her, Susanty strives for strength as a mother and has begun volunteering with various initiatives to support those navigating a similar experience. Hear her story via the link below 🕊️ To those fighting to break free and those in recovery, we support you.

“In a dream I don't tell anyone, there are alternate nostalgic pasts of us living down the road from each other, and Tuesday's just another day where we all happen to be wearing red.” In this love letter to trilingual grief and digitised rituals, Abi, a second-generation Indo-Chinese immigrant in Singapore, longs for a deeper connection to her relatives and a home without language barriers. Her family traditionally travels to Indonesia for Chinese New Year, but this year was different — celebrated instead through video calls and telephone lines. "I always felt like I was grasping at traditions that were supposed to be mine but never quite fit." As generations pass, we may find ourselves faced with challenges and uncomfortable emotions in maintaining cultural traditions and familial bonds with our family members, especially those living in different countries and with different cultures. But amidst the fumbling for the right formalities and awkward yet affectionate hugs, the essence of family remains unchanged — the warmth of togetherness and the joy of reunion. No matter the struggles to connect, what matters most is cherishing the time we have with our loved ones, wherever and however we spend it.

As students, fresh grads, or even seasoned professionals, we may sometimes feel lost about our career prospects and wonder, “What’s next?” While adulthood comes with challenges in health, relationships, and work-life balance, these uncertainties also bring opportunities for growth and reflection. Our webcomic series, Work In Progress (WIP), delves into issues about education, career, health and relationships that unfold within narratives told through uplifting illustrations and wholesome characters. Partnering with Smart Nation Singapore, our latest edition of WIP tells the story of Iqa, a full-time freelancer, who found purpose in using her skills to help her peers accomplish their goals. “Being a jack-of-all-trades isn't a weakness – it’s become my strength as I continue my full-time freelancing journey.” For Iqa, she discovered the motivation to enhance her array of skills with a personalised learning journey through platforms like MySkillsFuture and National Library Board’s LearnX. Our most iconic YouTube series and talk show, Can Ask Meh?, showcases honest and raw conversations, creating a space for topics we may find difficult to discuss and questions we typically do not dare to ask. Beneath these sensitive questions, a deeper purpose lies — to foster understanding and empathy, paving the way for a more supportive and inclusive society. Our latest edition of Can Ask Meh? in partnership with Providend features Evelyn Goh, a mother of three who went through difficult pregnancies in her late 30s to 40s. She initially struggled to have children and was advised to undergo in vitro fertilization (IVF). “It came to a point where attending baby showers became something that I found unbearable. I know in my heart I should be happy for my friend, but… it’s just tough.” “For a mum (after she has crossed 35) to carry the child to full term and deliver the baby, it’s like putting her head on a chopping board.” In this moving dialogue, Evelyn shares the chronicles of her challenging yet rewarding pregnancy journey, detailing the ordeals, medical procedures, emotional turmoil, and eventual bliss she experienced along the way. Watch the full episode here!

Got a passion for videography, a hunger for storytelling, and curiosity about what it's like? Our Brand & Video Lead Yu En Lee shares four heartfelt lessons from her years of creative experience. "With each video that I worked on and every new stranger I came to know as a friend, my world expanded." The more stories we tell, the bigger our world becomes. Storytelling is a powerful tool — it bridges perspectives, sparks empathy, and preserves the narratives of those often unheard. But behind every impactful piece is a creator who has faced rejection, self-doubt, and the disappointment of stories that don’t always land the way we hope. Yet, we press on because we know that for every story that goes unnoticed, there is another that deeply touches someone in ways we may never fully grasp. "From the fatigued record shop owner who is fighting defiantly against the dying trade to the hawker who toils from 3am every day to bring his kids through school, I’ve borne witness to many seemingly mundane but extraordinary stories." Every person has a story. These are not just passing faces; they are testaments to resilience, love, and the human spirit. "There is something truly beautiful about being given a glimpse of an intimate moment of vulnerability, and to realise that beneath all our trappings, at our core, we are all built of love." To all the storytellers, filmmakers, journalists, and creators out there: Keep going, and keep telling stories that move.

Hi! I’m PC Prisca Pook, a Video Journalist (Documentary) Intern from the OGS Video Team! My most memorable experience in OGS would be the POSB Support Your Heartlands shoots. During these shoots, I had the opportunity to meet people who work in small local businesses, such as a minimart shop owner and a hawker egg seller. When they shared about their life stories, I gained a deeper appreciation for the people whose stories that we often overlook. It has shed a spotlight on the lives of small shop owners in Singapore and the importance of supporting local businesses. I found it especially heartwarming when the profiles mentioned that they enjoyed the videos and thanked me for supporting their businesses. It gives me a sense of fulfilment to know that the videos made them happy, and had a positive impact on them! 😊 If you’re curious to watch the video, here’s my favourite piece from the POSB Support Your Heartlands series: https://lnkd.in/dF25Gyag #whyogs #interninsight

"Even the smallest moments of joy make a big impact ❤️" In this video, we explore what our foreign workers do on their day off! Ella and her friends, after a long 6-day work week, make their only day off count by choosing adventure over rest. Ella created a community called Skate Club, which has become her second family—a place where they share moments of joy, support, and strength. Their story is a reminder of the power of community and the importance of cherishing the moments that fuel our spirits. It's about embracing what matters most, even in the busiest of lives. Our Grandfather Story (OGS) reposted this
Hello, I'm CT Celeste Tan Video Journalist Intern from OGS! When I recount one of my memorable experiences so far, it would've been my shoot with Kakak Amrah. During this shoot, I met an amazing mother and an extremely heartwarming person. While listening to her interview, I could feel the genuine love and trust she places in herself and her kids. It felt refreshing to listen and learn about someone who had been through so much negativity and danger, be able to look forward to the future and put her entire soul into what she loves to do. She inspired me to be content with what I have; even if things seem impossible at times, it's up to me to make it possible for myself. Through that, I could tell why this story was being told to the public, to tell others that they will always have a chance at living the life they want. (Eating her food also made it more memorable 🤭🤭🤭) Watch her story here: https://lnkd.in/dat_m543 #whyogs #interninsight
