A heartfelt message of sympathy on the passing of Mr Cecil Vivian Richard Wong The Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) is deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Mr. Cecil Vivian Richard Wong. We recognise Mr Wong’s pioneering efforts, alongside individuals from the Rotary Club of Singapore West, the Lions Club and the Jaycees in 1964. Mr Wong was a founding member of SCS’ Council and the Honorary Treasurer. His work contributed to building an organisation focussed on Minimising Cancer and Maximising Lives. Today, SCS stands proud as a self-funded Social Service Agency which provides an integrated continuum of care from cancer control and prevention to patient support services, to survivorship and palliative care. Our key programmes and services include cancer screening programmes, public education, financial and welfare services, psychosocial support, survivorship, rehabilitation programmes and hospice care. As SCS commemorates our 60th anniversary of improving the lives of Singaporeans and the cancer community, we remember Mr Cecil Wong and the pioneers of this establishment who possessed the vision to see through the set up and development of SCS. Our thoughts are with the loved ones and friends Mr Wong has left behind as well as everyone whose life was positively impacted by him. We find comfort in the knowledge that his contributions have made a profound difference to the cancer ecosystem, and he will be remembered for years to come. Albert Ching Chief Executive Officer Singapore Cancer Society

On 12th September, SCS opened our third rehabilitation centre at National University Cancer Institute, Singapore. Graced by Adj A/Prof Chee Cheng Ean, Executive Director, National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS), Grace Chung, Assistant Chief Operating Officer, Department of Operations & Administration, National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS), Lee Meng Tat, Chairman, Singapore Cancer Society (SCS), Albert Ching, CEO, Singapore Cancer Society (SCS). The Centre is the second community cancer rehabilitation facility in Singapore dedicated to providing integrated care to address the needs of cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers. The opening of Singapore Cancer Society’s second Community Rehabilitation Centre at National University Cancer Institute, Singapore highlights the importance of rehabilitation care as an integral part of cancer recovery and survivorship. In 2023, the SCS Cancer Rehabilitation Centre was opened at the National Cancer Centre Singapore building and in 2024, the tertiary level rehabilitation centre was officially opened at the same venue. The partnership with the two main cancer centres: National University Cancer Institute, Singapore and the National Cancer Centre Singapore ensures a presence in the western and central parts of the island, offering cancer patients the required therapy from a team of allied health professionals specialised in oncology rehabilitation, all under one roof. #SCS #SCS60 #SCSCommunity
