Not your average cinema. The Projector is an independent arts venue that celebrates diversity and inclusivity.

About us

A dynamic alternative to the common cineplex, The Projector revived a historic movie theatre in Golden Mile Tower as an independent creative platform that brings together the best of films, one-of-a-kind events, versatile spaces, and delectable fare. Beyond just being a venue, The Projector is a community space where differences are embraced and minds are open. It is the answer to anyone claiming Singapore is boring – a hidden gem that offers an alternative to the sameness and usual humdrum of the city. With its blend of quirky spaces, creative personalities, and diverse programming, it offers an experience unlike any other. The Projector houses the most unique range of film, arts, and cultural programming in Singapore, while also serving as a platform for cross-cultural exchange and social awareness.

Happening this week! Perspectives Film Festival: Breakthroughs in Cinema (PFF) is back from 1 to 3 November at The Projector (Cineleisure & Golden Mile).   Organised by NTU undergraduates as part of a practicum conducted by WKWSCI, PFF is Singapore’s first and longest-running student-led film festival. This year’s edition showcases how filmmakers use visual effects to bring fantastical worlds to life. From stop-motion and miniatures to deepfake technology, these films push the boundaries of storytelling beyond digital effects.   Visit https://lnkd.in/gcPbHq4i to view the full line-up and get your tickets! 🎟️✨   See you there!

Reel education: Perspectives Film Festival 2024 is set to bring a fresh cinematic experience to the public from 1 to 3 November. Organised by a team of 25 undergraduate students from #NTUsg’s College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, the festival has been in planning for over four months. The team had to navigate many challenges like securing the rights to cult classic Starship Troopers (1997) after their initial plans to air Terminator (1984) changed, tweaking the guest line-up after some international directors could not make it due to scheduling conflicts, and balancing their festival duties with academic commitments. As a result, the valuable real-world experience they gained has gone far beyond film curation, extending to leadership, communication, and event management. With these obstacles out of the frame, the festival is now replete with highlights, including the participation of notable local panellists with expertise in visual effects on opening night, and support from the Embassy of Estonia who will be providing Estonian snacks during the screening of November (2017), a fantasy horror drama flick based in 19th century Estonia. Catch the #PerspectivesFilmFest at The Projector at Golden Mile on 1 Nov, and The Projector at Cineleisure from 2 to 3 Nov. https://ntu.sg/PFF #NTUsgStudents #NTUsgEducation #NTUsgInterdisciplinary

Our recent Media Night at The Projector brought together creatives and media professionals for an exclusive screening of Matinee at Three, a short film by acclaimed director Shuming He. Film Bio: Matinee at Three In an old cinema, The Lion City (1960), the first Chinese film by Cathay-Keris, plays to a dwindling audience. As the black-and-white love story echoes through the cinema’s empty halls, two strangers seek a connection. Shot in the historic Golden Theatre located in Golden Mile Tower—a modernist architectural icon, now home to The Projector—this homage to Tsai Ming Liang’s Goodbye, Dragon Inn acts as an ode to the ghosts and sanctity of the cinematic space. About the Director: Shuming He A graduate of the AFI Conservatory and a Young Artist laureate, He Shuming’s critically acclaimed debut feature, Ajoomma, garnered 4 Golden Horse Awards nominations, including Best New Director, and was Singapore’s entry at the 95th Academy Awards. His works range from narrative fiction, television commercials, music videos, and short documentaries. He has worked with clients such as Cartier, SingTel, Samsung, MCCY, NTUC Income, among others.
