We design solutions that help people and the planet thrive.

About us

ThinkPlace is a strategic design consultancy at the forefront of tackling some of Singapore’s most complexed challenges using design-led, human-centred approaches. For the past 10 years, we engage with the complexity and the messiness of real human experiences in Singapore and regions in South East Asia — how people live, work and play; how people experience products, services, regulations; how they navigate systems they interact with — health, education, energy, economic, regulatory, social welfare and more. We have designed with countless change leaders from the public, private and non-profit sectors, and have become a trusted ally for the Singaporean government to create policy, regulatory and service, initiative and transformations that work for all. Our work has helped create more effective and equitable outcomes, strengthening trust, enhancing public participation, and creating new alignments with the needs and aspirations of the people they serve. We are a team of multi-disciplinary designers, united by our passion to design a future that works for all. At ThinkPlace, we believe that we cannot do this alone — the future should not be a product of product of a set of independent, unrelated decisions that each of us makes. Instead, we believe that co-design and co-creation are key to building better futures. That is, collectively, through our services we can design for the future in a way that works for all, not just for some. So join us today in building a future that works for all.

💡 Design thinking is about grounding your ideas in real, human experiences, and providing your clients with insights they can trust when making big decisions. By diving into human-centred design, we tap into the deep roots of anthropology, sociology, and psychology, using powerful ethnographic techniques to truly understand how people interact, communicate, and create value together. One of our go-to frameworks is 𝗔𝗘𝗜𝗢𝗨, a simple yet powerful tool to capture the essence of a service experience: 𝗔 — 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: What are people trying to accomplish? What processes and tasks are they immersed in? 𝗘 — 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Where’s all the action happening? Engage all your senses to soak in the atmosphere, and jot down every detail before it fades into the background. 𝗜 — 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Who’s interacting with whom, and how? These moments, whether routine or rare, are the building blocks of the experience. 𝗢 — 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀: What tangible tools or devices are in play? These objects are more than just things—they’re emotional anchors tied to history and relationships. 𝗨 — 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀: Who are the people involved? What are their roles, values, and relationships? Remember, users aren’t just the end-users! Interested to find out more about application of the AEIOU framework? 🎉That's a wrap for 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰! We had the amazing opportunity to be involved in Singapore Design Week again this year and was able to conduct 3 workshops on the topic of 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀. For 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, we explored what it means to be age inclusive in design and co-created an inclusion framework for inclusive design solutions with our participants. For 𝗝𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗮𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗶, we learned about frugal innovation and went about searching for examples of it in our everyday life, co-creating a map of all frugal innovations here in Singapore. For 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱, we discover the power of prototyping in policy making to guide us in re-designing some interesting policies all over the world and voted for each new policies. 💡Thank you to DesignSingapore Council for having us as part of this event. And most importantly, we want to thank everyone for taking the time to participate in our workshops and are so inspired by the diverse perspectives and ideas that came out of them! We'd love to keep hearing from you so please continue to share your ideas with us! 😭 Bumped that you missed out on the fun? Have you ever considered how age influences the way we interact with the world around us? A great design experience today may be vastly different from when 10 years later! Age inclusive designs are not just important to address the needs of the aging populations. It is also an important preparation for our own future to ensure designs that can overcome biases and ageism - ultimately delivering the optimal experiences across all age demographics. Join us at Singapore Design Week this year, as we collaboratively explore the generational differences in the experience of design solutions, and co-create opportunities to further promote age inclusivity in our future design approaches. While powerful in nudging human actions, behavioural designs also introduces significant ethical questions. Who decides what is considered a "beneficial" behaviour? To what extend is it acceptable for designers to determines what is in the best interest of the people? Where is the line between helpful guidance and unethical manipulation? At ThinkPlace Singapore, we practice the highest levels of ethics and integrity to ensure that our work focuses exclusively for the good of society and the planet. As such, our work in behavioural design is guided by 6 ethics principles to ensure that we are nudging behaviours for good. 👉 Swipe to learn more about our ethics to behavioural design.
