Pink Townhall to support #PinkOctober, a world-wide breast cancer awareness campaign.🎀 Each month, we hold a hybrid company Townhall, to share the most important information and updates with our associates. This month was specifically dedicated to Pink October! 🌸 What was on the agenda? 👚 Pink dress code and 🥐 Pink-themed breakfast to support the internal awareness 📚 Educational lecture about breast cancer awareness and prevention, supported by educational materials provided by NIE RAKOVINE and OZ Amazonky - Europa Donna Slovakia. We believe that the awareness comes from the environment around us. That’s why we organize activities educating our colleagues and motivating women to visit their annual check-ups.  #BreastCancerAwareness

🔍🫀 Approximately 25,000 people in Slovakia pass away each year from #cardiovascular diseases, with the mortality rate currently exceeding the number of injuries and cancer combined. Research of modern therapies and novel approaches brings change and dramatically improves patient prognosis and overall survival rates. 🎯 Congress of Slovak Society of Cardiology represents the biggest cardiology meeting in Slovakia, annually setting a trend in the treatment and management of Slovak patients. We are honored that we had the opportunity to be the general partner, contributing to continuous change in approach towards Slovak patients and lowering the overall number of #preventabledeaths, caused by cardiovascular conditions. 🙏🏻

🏃♀️🏃♂️“Reimagining Movement, Together” was the message of a one special afternoon, which was all about coming together as one Novartis Slovakia team at the same time around the country. After a busy day, each of our teams chose a different fitness activity to do, providing our associates a fantastic opportunity to connect with one another, get moving and build the team spirit. 💪 The weather was kind to us and we all enjoyed a lovely early fall day. ☀️🍂 We believe in prioritizing our associates' well-being alongside their professional development. Our commitment is creating a supportive work environment and we look forward to organizing more events like this in the future.

📅 September 22nd marked World Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Day and on this occasion, we organized a press conference featuring a panel discussion to raise awareness about the disease. 🩸 Each year, Slovakia sees an increase of 60 new patients with chronic myeloid leukemia. The underlying cause of this rare malignant blood disease is currently known to be a result of a specific genetic abnormality that occurs in the stem cells of the blood. However, what leads to this abnormality is still unknown. 🧬❓ As the speakers at the conference noted, the treatment of #CML has come a long way over the past two decades, turning it from a life-threatening disease to a manageable one. 🌟 We are pleased to announce that our Country President, Samuel Hollis, has been elected onto the AIFP - Association of Innovative Pharmaceutical Industry (local EFPIA) Supervisory Board! As a supervisory board member, Samuel will have the opportunity to contribute to the decision-making process and strategic direction of AIFP at a critical time in Slovakia and into the reform of EU Pharma Legislation. We have full confidence that his insights and experiences will positively impact the pharmaceutical community in Slovakia, and we are proud that Novartis Slovakia can be a part of the transformation of the Slovak healthcare system. 💊🌍

This week, we have attended the international forum of oncology experts ESMO - European Society for Medical Oncology in Barcelona. 🩺 🔍 From listening to new groundbreaking data to engaging with global experts, our team has used their time to the maximum and will be bringing valuable insights and learnings back to Slovakia to help improve patient outcomes. Besides scientific advancements, what else do we consider important in improving oncology access in Slovakia? 👩🏽⚕️ Establishing strong collaborations with the healthcare system 🙍🏽♀️ Engaging with patients and caregivers to full understand their needs  🧬Delivering innovations with the earliest possible access, aiming to improve health data - mortality and overall survival 💊 Removing barriers to ensure patients have access to proven and effective treatment #ESMO2024

World Patient Safety Day – September 17th, 2024 🧡 It is our great pleasure to importantly recognize World Health Organization's World Patient Safety Day (WPSD) under the theme “Improving diagnosis for Patient Safety” - “Get it right, make it safe”!👏 Our Patient Safety Team has organized an interactive day raising awareness among Novartis employees about patient safety and the importance of early disease diagnosis. Activities included orange yoga, educational breakfast with external speakers, skin checks, quizzes and an orange outfit photo contest. 📸 🧘♂️ 🩺 ✏️🍊 Patient safety is the responsibility of each and every employee and no opportunity for highlighting this message should be missed! 💼 Just wrapped up an amazing Annual Cycle Meeting at our company! 🚀 Each year after the summer, our company comes together during the annual cycle meeting. This year was not any different – starting on Monday, with an opening session called 'Together Beyond Tomorrow' at Ponton on the Danube in Bratislava. We hosted two inspiring special guests, including Ľubomír Višňovský, a hockey legend an NHL star and Tatiana Ondrejkova, entrepreneur, and CEO of Pelikan. Both shared their journeys to success and advice on how to do things differently. Some of our colleagues shared their “my why” stories – speaking about their personal experiences that have led them to working in pharmaceuticals. Following the plenary and time to connect all together, in the following day the teams broke into execution sessions to ensure we finish the year strong 🌟 #Teamwork

🌟 Join us in congratulating our talented junior associate, Peter Židek, who will soon be leaving for university! Following on his Bachelor studies at University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna, he is heading to Umeå University in Sweden. During his time at our Value and Access department, Peter has shown remarkable dedication and a passion for healthcare and pharmaceuticals. This experience has sparked a new perspective, leading him to pursue studies in health economics, leveraging his previous education and work experience.
