Establishing a new medical school is an intricate and multifaceted journey, requiring a deep dive into best practices in medical education, infrastructure, and institutional culture. Study tours of established medical schools are invaluable for gathering the insights necessary for success. These visits provide us with direct exposure to the operational, educational, and cultural frameworks that define excellence in medical education. In this spirit, the Hamilton Education Foundation recently conducted several study tours to develop Hamilton University School of Medicine. Our most recent visit took us to Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where we had the privilege of engaging with their Winston-Salem and Charlotte, NC campuses. This esteemed institution, in partnership with Atrium Health, is known for its commitment to pushing the boundaries of medical education, research, and clinical care. Their forthcoming state-of-the-art medical campus in Charlotte, slated to open in July 2026, is part of an ambitious vision for innovation districts that are set to enhance learning, drive economic development, and improve public health outcomes. Our team was warmly welcomed by Dean Ebony Boulware and her academic and administrative leaders, as well as the developers behind The Pearl: Charlotte Innovation District. We look forward to exploring how the visionary innovations of Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Atrium/Advocate Health System align with the goals of Hamilton Education Foundation, our School of Medicine, Medical Center, and Research Institute. A special thank you to everyone, including: Ebony Boulware, Eugene A. Woods, Ruben Mesa, MD, Roy Strowd, Michelle Reed, MBA, Jennie Q. Thirty-one physicians from the Turks and Caicos Islands, including physicians from InterHealth Canada, The Ministry of Health and Human Services, and the Private sector, recently participated in a landmark Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course. This course was conducted under the tutelage of the Massachusetts General Hospital and the American College of Surgeons in collaboration with the Hamilton Education Foundation / Hamilton University School of Medicine. This course marked the first-ever Hybrid ATLS Demo course held outside the United States and took place at the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre. As a result of this training, the 31 physicians obtained certification as ATLS providers. This certification is pivotal as it equips them with essential lifesaving trauma skills necessary for enhancing the quality of healthcare delivery and saving lives in the midst of escalating intentional and unintentional injuries. InterHealth Canada - Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital enthusiastically supports this initiative that not only made history in the Turks and Caicos Islands but also further strengthened patient care standards. To learn more about this groundbreaking course, we invite you to watch a short video highlighting the event. #InterHealthCanada #TCIHospital #HamiltonEducationFoundation #ATLS #TraumaCare #HealthcareQuality #LifesavingSkills #TurksAndCaicos

National cancer screening and prevention programs in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) face several challenges related to their unique characteristics and healthcare systems. Specific challenges include population size, health system governance and service delivery, data management, research, financing, and care and treatment policies. Addressing these challenges in SIDS requires a comprehensive and multi-stakeholder approach. Collaborative efforts involving governments, international organizations, NGOs, and the private sector can help overcome some of these obstacles. Additionally, SIDS may benefit from sharing best practices and lessons from similar contexts to develop tailored cancer screening and prevention strategies. This conference is an opportune forum to highlight these challenges to key stakeholders and, together, formulate comprehensive solutions. We all have an important role in addressing these challenges, so let's participate virtually or in person. #NCDs #Cancer #cancerprevention #Health #Advocacy
