In the last two decades, we have grown from a small group of dedicated staff and supporters into an organisation with offices in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia. Together with our thousands of volunteers and supporters, we are able to bring about sustainable and green solutions to the most urgent local challenges. These include the Climate Emergency and its impacts on the region’s diverse local communities, wildlife and ecosystems; our rights to clean air and healthy food systems; and the protection of our ancient forests and oceans and the people that depend on them. As Greenpeace, we use non-violent creative action to pave the way towards a greener, more peaceful world, and to confront the systems and practices that threaten our environment. Our independence is vital- a core principle that guides all of our campaigns and fundraising. We are honoured that our work is funded by donations from passionate individuals and grants from private foundations who share our values. 🚩 Greenpeace Takes a Stand Against Offshore Carbon Capture in Thailand 🌊✊ Greenpeace activists aboard the Rainbow Warrior carried out a peaceful banner protest at the proposed offshore carbon capture and storage (CCS) site in the Arthit fossil gas field, located 250KM from the Thai coast. This action highlights the critical issue of greenwashing by the fossil fuel industry. CCS is often promoted as a solution to the climate crisis, claiming to capture and store CO2 emissions underground. However, it is criticized for being a false solution. Rather than eliminating harmful emissions, CCS allows carbon-emitting sources to continue operating, worsening climate change by extending the fossil fuel era. Greenpeace Thailand is calling on PTTEP to halt this project and take genuine steps towards climate action.
