The development of artificial intelligence (AI) should benefit everyone in Indonesia, including teachers from vocational high schools (SMK) in the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region. Hence, Plan Indonesia held a hybrid training of trainers joined by 80 vocational high school teachers from five different regions in NTT, spanning from the Kupang City, South Timor Tengah regency, Lembata regency, Nagekeo regency, and Manggarai regency on Thursday (18/07/2024). The training was as a part of Plan Indonesia’s Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship initiative–the AI TEACH program supported by Microsoft. The AI TEACH training of trainers was also held through cooperation between Plan Indonesia and NTT’s local Department of Education and Culture. Both institutions will work together to reach 1,000 SMK teachers who will then cascade their AI Generative knowledge to approximately 60,000 SMK students by 2024. AI TEACH program will also reach out to 5,000 teachers, cascading to 300,000 vocational high school students in the country. The teachers will then support at least 60,000 students to graduate from the program and receive certifications by Microsoft and LinkedIn by the end of December 2024. The #water supply and #sanitation sector has been recognized by the United Nations (UN) as a human right that must be fulfilled and is inseparable from other basic service infrastructure. Failure to provide access to safe drinking water and proper sanitation to the community will potentially lead to negative impacts such as an increase in cases of environment-based diseases that can cause child mortality, morbidity, malnutrition, and child growth and development problems or stunting. Over the past 10 years, #PlanIndonesia has assisted the government of the Republic of Indonesia in realizing the achievement of SDG 6, Water and Sanitation for All, by 2030 through various #WASH programs that have been implemented in several regions of Indonesia. Not only that, Plan Indonesia has also integrated climate change in the WASH program design to ensure WASH services can be climate resilient. Plan Indonesia, invites all parties to collaborate in climate resilient WASH Program to be implemented in the most needy areas in Indonesia. We cannot achieve the ambition of realizing climate resilient and inclusive WASH services, without support and joint efforts. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gZPUgMMD

In the culture of Indonesian society, religious leaders have a strategic role in disaster management efforts, including disaster preparedness. This is what drives Widowati to encourage disaster risk reduction efforts based on houses of worship. Wido, as she is called, is also one of the partners who often works with Plan Indonesia in various disaster risk reduction and disaster response efforts. This house of worship-based Disaster Risk Reduction initiative not only improves disaster preparedness in Indonesia, but also strengthens the bonds of tolerance between religious communities. Diversity can be a strength in the face of disaster.
