Zhejiang HuangLong Aquatics Center, designed by CSADI, is a striking architectural achievement in Hangzhou, China. This 48,791-square-meter facility, built for the 2022 Asian Games, features a dynamic roofline that echoes the fluidity of water, with a curvaceous form shaped by the differing heights of its pools. The design prioritizes natural ventilation and lighting by strategically positioning the competition, diving, and training pools on different levels. The building’s façade, adorned with perforated aluminum sunshades, evokes the landscape of West Lake, creating a visual connection to the region’s cultural heritage. The structure’s innovative space truss system, supported by fish-belly-shaped pre-stressed concrete trusses and V-shaped columns, integrates the building’s form and function, showcasing a blend of modern engineering and poetic design. 📸 Zheng Shi #parametric #sportsarchitecture #aquaticcenter #modernarchitecture #structuraldesign
