About us

Advocacy and Representation of Local Government interests Promoting the Policy of Decentralization Carry out capacity building programs for local and county governments in East Africa and generally enhance the level of awareness on local governance and decentralization issues in the region. Promoting the EAC Integration Agenda and unity of the East African people Promoting compliance with the requirements of relevant national policies, plans and legislation and promote the implementation of international obligations imposed by international conventions or treaties to which member countries are a party. Promote and support at regional and national level, effective dialogue between the central and the local and county governments. Encourage international co-operation of local and county governments and their associations. Join, collaborate, affiliate or into partnership or other relationship with local government associations or other organizations with objectives wholly or partly similar to those of the Association. Initiate partnerships and programmes in furtherance of all or any of its objectives. Promote sustainable economic, social, cultural, vocational and environmental development with a view to reducing poverty and raising the standards of living of the people of East Africa. Promote human rights, gender equality, the emancipation of women and combat all forms of discrimination based on race, country of origin, tribe, gender, or any other factor.
