Strengthening Health Services in Tanga: The Power of Community Involvement   💡What is the best way to make sure that the health care needs of a population of a population are met? Expert knowledge and data are two important factors. A third is representation of the community being served. Communities not only know what they need, but also how they need it. Building on these principles, GIZ Health Program in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and President’s Office Regional Administration and Local Government, conducted community dialogues based on Community Score Cards as part of the Government planning in nine health centers across Tanga Region.   🎯Key outcomes from the 2024 round: - Improved health-seeking behaviors within the community - Reduced complaints related to health services - Significant improvements in health resources, finances, and commodities - A notable shift in the attitudes of healthcare providers, leading to enhanced service delivery   🙌 This ongoing collaboration is about building a future where quality health services are accessible to everyone. It ensures that everyone’s voice is heard – whether young or old, female or male, able-bodied or living with a disability. 👏We’re proud of the progress so far and look forward to continuing this journey toward better health outcomes for all.   #CommunityEngagement #HealthForAll #TangaHealth #CitizenAccountability #PublicHealth #GIZ #MOH #PositiveChange #representation

✨ Celebrating increased opportunities and girls’ empowerment through GIZ Tanzania 👧 Across the world, girls face numerous inequalities based on their gender. These inequalities include gender-based violence, forced child marriage, infringement of rights, and discrimination. In Tanzania, girls encounter similar challenges, including limited access to health services, education, justice when experiencing violence, economic opportunities, and safe spaces for sports activities. 🌍 Today, we commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child (IDGC). GIZ Tanzania supports girls’ empowerment and ensures that the “Girls’ Vision for the Future” is clear and attainable. We work in the following areas: Ending gender-based violence and violence against children that hinders girls from reaching their full potential.👩🎓 Ensuring access to sexual reproductive health education and services for girls in Tanzania, allowing them to pursue their dreams without the risk of unintended pregnancy. 👩⚕️ Empowering girls through sports by creating safe spaces to learn and enabling them to pursue sports careers. 🏃♀️ Empowering girls through skills development by sponsoring attendance at courses offered by vocational and technical training institutions aiming to facilitate the smooth transition to the labor market. 👷♀️ Happy International Day of the Girl Child 2024! #GirlsFutureMatters #HerFutureOurResponsibility #EmpowermentForDevelopment #IDGC2024 #GIZGender

✨ Youth for Peace 💫 In commemoration of the International Day of Peace 2024, GIZ’s Regional Project Sport for Development in Africa (S4DA) supported their partners in participating in the Youth4Peace Caravan in Zanzibar and the Youth for Peace and Security Forum in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. In Zanzibar, the Youth4Peace Caravan conducted educational outreaches in seven schools, engaging over 1000 students, and hosted Youth4Peace Dialogue sessions. The campaign culminated in the #Youth4Peace Fun Run, where more than 200 young people were united in sports activities to promote peace. By promoting gender equality, challenging harmful stereotypes, and engaging women and youth in decision-making, we can create a more inclusive and sustainable peace. 🏃♂️ 🏃♀️ Inspirational youth, women, and “sports” change agents from Zanzibar were empowered to engage at the Youth for Peace and Security Forum on September 20 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. During the official opening ceremony Hon. Dr. Biteko, Minister of Energy, emphasized the essential role of youth as key drivers for transformative changes to bring long-lasting peace. 🌍 🕊 Throughout the forum, participants engaged in meaningful discussions on critical topics, including "Youth, Peace, and Security in the Digital Age" and "Economic Security and its Impact on Youth Participation in Decision-Making" aiming at empowering them as leaders in preventing conflict and sustaining peace. #Youth4PeaceAgenda #NFYPS2024 #SikuYaAmani

Empowering Youth in Tanga 🌍✨   Young people in Tanga today face numerous challenges in making informed health choices, often lacking access to essential, age-appropriate information and resources. From the 23rd to the 27th of September, the GIZ Health Programme, together with its implementing partners, conducted school outreach events, reaching thousands of secondary school students in various schools across the Tanga region. 🎓📚These events are designed to educate young people on vital health topics that empower them to make informed choices. Through this collaboration, GIZ has been able to provide age-appropriate education to students on topics such as sexual and reproductive health, to equip them to live self-determined lives. 🧠💪 In addition, topics such as personal hygiene, nutrition, mental health, physical activity, disease prevention, first aid, and environmental health were raised during these events. 🍎🩺 We are committed to making a positive impact in the community by empowering the youth with the knowledge and resources they need for a healthier future. 🌟 Together with our partners, we will continue to educate the youth and ensure that every young individual is equipped to make informed, self-determined choices about their lives. ✨ #YouthEmpowerment #HealthEducation #FamilyPlanning  #ReproductiveRights #GIZ #HealthFocus #evaplan #FeminaHip #TangaRegion

🌴 Exploring Business Development Services at Coco Beach 🌊🌱 On 26 September, we had the pleasure of conducting a Focus Group Discussion with around 40 participants at Coco Beach, Dar es Salaam. The discussion centered around Business Development Services (BDS), with a particular focus on the needs and challenges faced by local food vendors operating in the area. The participants, primarily small-scale vendors, shared valuable insights on how to grow and sustain their businesses. It was inspiring to hear their stories and learn about the obstacles they face on a daily basis. This session was made possible through the excellent collaboration between the WE4D and PRoLA projects. Together, we explored how tailored BDS and the set-up of legal aid desks can empower these vendors, helping them scale their businesses, increase profitability, and contribute even more to the local economy. A big thank you to everyone who participated and to those who helped organize this impactful session. Looking forward to implementing the ideas discussed and seeing these businesses thrive! 🚀✨ #BusinessDevelopment #Entrepreneurship #LocalEconomy #Legalaidservice #SmallBusiness #CocoBeach #CommunityEmpowerment #WomenEconomicEmpowerment #WE4DTZ #PRoLA #Access2Justice

🌍✨ Happy World Contraception Day! ✨🌍   Every individual, regardless of gender, age, or background, deserves the right to choose when and if to have children. Yet, many still face barriers to accessing reliable contraception, leading to unwanted pregnancies and unsafe abortions—especially among young women and girls.   At GIZ, we're proud to support the Tanzanian government in enhancing access to quality contraception services. In Tanga region, we've strengthened 20 health facilities through formal training, regular mentorships, and supportive supervision.   In 2023 alone, our efforts reached an impressive 54,439 clients, empowering them to make informed choices about their reproductive health. 🎉 This year we are focused on reaching even more individuals, particularly young people, by supporting 70 secondary schools in providing reproductive and sexual health education. Our commitment extends to fostering a positive environment among healthcare providers to ensure everyone has access to essential sexual and reproductive health services. Additionally, we are collaborating with the Ministry of Health to update guidelines and supply vital tools that guarantee high-quality contraceptive services.   Let's work together to empower individuals with the choice and control over their reproductive health. 💪❤️   #WorldContraceptionDay #ReproductiveHealth #FamilyPlanning #GIZ #Tanzania #Healthcare #Empowerment
