🚩 The Social Good of Automation 🚩 Even though every innovation comes with risks and challenges, we believe that the best founders want to build things that positively matter. Automation has served us for thousands of years. It comes with the good, the bad, and the destructive. But as AI and robotics propel humanity into a future with more powerful automation, is it possible to steer it towards greater good for all? 👉🏽  Head to the comments as Michael Tefula, Investor-in-Residence at Ada unpacks our thinking. What have we missed here? Who are the most thoughtful people writing about this? 🗣 Let us know in the comments.

🇩🇰 Buzzing from a fantastic experience at TechBBQ in Copenhagen for Ada Ventures spending time with Ada's Angels from the Danish programme, founders, ecosystem builders and even a few surprise guests.. Anyone who hasn't been, I can highly recommend. It's one of the most refreshingly inclusive conferences I've been to with parents with buggies walking around and TechBBQueer and so many side events focused on different groups. Huge shout out to Sam Eshrati for incredible organisation and the fantastic community you've built. Until next year.. 🚀 Investment Announcement🚀 We are thrilled to announce that Ada Ventures has invested in Tract, a prop-tech startup using AI to revolutionise the process of obtaining planning permissions for real estate development. We co-led Tract’s pre-seed round alongside our friends at Concept Ventures. Read Why we invested in Tract👇 in the comments section below. Tract is the first explicitly “YIMBY” prop-tech company that's making it easier and cheaper to find land suitable for development. This innovative approach could have a significant impact on solving the housing crisis, making homeownership a reality for many. The Tract team, led by co-founder and CEO Jamie Rumbelow and co-founder and CTO Henry Dashwood, is dedicated to using technology to address the housing problem and create positive societal impact. Their sophisticated planning engine simplifies the complex process of obtaining planning permissions and has the potential to unlock a completely unserved market of smaller land parcels. We are excited about Tract's potential to help millions of people become homeowners and bring down rents for struggling families, aligning perfectly with our economic empowerment thesis. We see the immense societal value in their mission-driven approach to solving a critical social problem. Stay tuned for more updates on Tract's journey as they continue to develop their technology and work towards delivering significant social impact. We are proud to be a part of their mission and can't wait to see what the future holds! #Tract #PropTech #AI #HousingCrisis #SocialImpact 🏡🌱

Introducing PHINXT Robotics - and announcing an Ada Ventures’ portfolio company🎉 We are thrilled to announce our participation in a £2m investment round in PHINXT Robotics, a startup that enables warehouses of any size to deploy autonomous robots with no expertise required. 📰Follow the coverage in The Times in the comments section📰 🌟 We’re excited by the team behind PHINXT. Their unique diverse talent combines both academic and technical expertise with strong commercial sensibilities. 💡 Yanwen Chen, CEO and co-founder of PHINXT, is without doubt one of the strongest technical founders we’ve met at Ada. Yanwen has not one but two PhDs focusing on optimisation of distributed and autonomous systems and 11 years of experience in robotics managing engineering teams and building software. 💡 Co-founder and CTO Quirino Zagarese has a PhD in Service Computing for Ultra Large-Scale Systems and is an experienced software developer. 🌍 There is a huge amount of market opportunity. In 2023, the mobile robot market size was worth $5B and there were 0.9M mobile robots deployed in warehouses. In 2027, the market size is estimated at $16B with 2.4M robots. 😇 Hailey Eustace, a respected deep-tech angel investor in PHINXT scouted this deal. Hailey has consistently expressed high regard for Yanwen’s significant achievements and ability to deliver customer results alongside superior technical capabilities. Hailey and the rest of the scout community are vital to the success of what we do at Ada Ventures. PHINXT already has traction, including two customers who offer scaling opportunities. 👇🏽Head to the comments to read more about why we invested👇🏽

Thanks to the Capsule Insurance team for their sponsorship of this first in a series of LP and Diverse Emerging Fund Manager Dinners. Christian Tooley, Founder of i³ investing and former Ada Angel shared:    "It was thought-provoking to be in a safe space with individuals curious and empathetic about unpacking a vehicle for system change. We need more practical engagement with diverse emerging fund managers and LPs, acknowledging both the systemic opportunities and systemic barriers to future VCs."   Izzy Obeng, CEO of Foundervine and former Ada Angel added:    "I want Foundervine Ventures to reflect a better society with a better, more equitable story we wish to tell about our future as a society. Thank you, Ada Ventures and Capsule Insurance, for hosting us."

Capsule supports VCs at all stages with their insurance needs, so we're particularly delighted to work alongside Ada Ventures on their Diverse Emerging Managers Dinner series, which connects first-time fund managers with LPs from their network. Improving access to venture capital by supporting first-time fund managers who seek to drive investment performance alongside positive impact is crucial, considering the underrepresentation of ethnic minorities and women in the venture ecosystem - especially considering diverse teams have 20% better average returns! Last Tuesday's dinner for first-time emerging fund managers and LPs was full of great insight; check out some of our key takeaways below: 🔎 Finding LPs: Utilise networks like The Impact, Phenix Capital, and 2X Global. Understand that fundraising is a lengthy process and involves extensive networking. 🎤 Pitching LPs: Tailor your pitch based on LP motivations. Clearly explain how your impact strategy drives expected returns. Demonstrate your track record and strategy alignment. 🏃♂️ Demonstrating Track Record: Leverage sweat equity, angel syndicates, and share your pipeline with LPs to build credibility and demonstrate your sourcing and vetting abilities. 💸 Fundraising is a Sales Process: Build a robust LP pipeline, tailor your pitches, and focus on demonstrating your ability to return 3x capital in 10 years. #VentureCapital #Fundraising #EmergingManagers #ImpactInvesting Chloe Dagnell - Isomer Capital // Misodzi M. - British Business Bank // Christelle P. // Christian Tooley - i³ investing // Izzy Obeng - Foundervine // Deepali Nangia - Speedinvest // Marquis Caines - Diversity-X // Chisom Udeze - Diversify // Diarra Smith - Ada Ventures // Alice Garnier

The UK has one of the leading investment markets but there is always room for improvement when it comes to diversity across the industry. Did you know? 👉 Only 9% of general partners managing European assets within VCs are women. 👉 In 2022, only 1% of UK VC funding went to Black founders. 👉Gender-diverse investing teams have on average 20% better net returns (IRRs). Therefore, we're excited to be sponsoring Ada Ventures' dinner for first-time emerging fund managers and LPs. The event, which takes place tomorrow, seeks to create connections with their investors who deploy capital into first-time Emerging VCs or funds with an inclusive investing lens 💸 #adaventures #Dinner #Event #EmergingVCs
