This support has massively helped akt's ability to ensure the safety of LGBTQ+ young people. 🎉 Thank you Homewards! 🎉 Last night, our Chair of Trustees, Rob Malcomson MBE along with colleagues from akt, Alison and Jessica, were kindly invited as a Sector partner of the Homewards programme for a special viewing of the 'Homelessness: Reframed' exhibition. 💜 The exhibition, at the Saatchi Gallery in London, is a collaboration between the gallery, the 'Homewards' programme run by The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales and Eleven Eleven Foundation, to encourage visitors to better understand the complexities and stories of people who experience homelessness. It has drawn 35,000 visitors over the summer and runs until the 20th September! ✨ FREE entry! ✨

⚠ This is a true story of how transphobic abuse can put a young person at risk of becoming homeless. Names have been changed to protect their identity. ⚠ Struggling with A-Levels and living in an abusive, unsupportive home, Alex reached out to akt. The hostile environment impacted their mental health and made studying difficult. As they couldn't get a job and move out, Alex sought our help. We referred Alex to Galop, an LGBTQ+ domestic abuse service, and helped them explore housing options. Using our Independent Living Fund, we paid for a SpareRoom subscription, leading Alex to supported accommodation. We covered their moving costs with a Rainbow Starter Pack. Now settled and happy, Alex is working part-time, volunteering, and aiming to finish A-Levels, attend university, and become a teacher. Please donate to akt today.
