That’s it for another #BICCConference! Hilary Gormley, Managing Director, AIB UK articulated how AIB has a long legacy of supporting customers in UK and ROI on the ‘UK-Ireland Financial and Professional Services: Pathways to Prosperity’ panel.   The discussions were rich and thought-provoking, particularly around how the UK and Ireland can further strengthen our economic ties through collaboration in #Fintech, #SustainableFinance, and cross-border ventures. Hilary said: “At AIB, our purpose is to empowering people to build a sustainable future. Our strategy is centred on an informed view of our customers’ needs and anchored in a progressive ESG agenda. We do this by working in partnership with our customers, getting to know their strategy and the progress they want to make. It’s an approach that has stood us in good stead and we have a proud history of delivering customer solutions that support their business ambitions. Since 2019, the UK and Republic of Ireland banks have operated under one AIB brand and there is no doubt that increased collaboration better supports our customers. Huge thanks to the panelists for such an insightful session. We’re excited to see how these conversations will drive future collaboration and growth across both countries.” Pictured are Cathal O'Connor, Head of Corporate Banking AIB UK, Simon Harris, Taoiseach, Hilary Gormley Managing Director AIB UK.   #FinancialServices #UKIreland #Collaboration #FutureGrowth #Innovation #BICC #PathwaysToProsperity

At AIB, we’re committed to empowering a sustainable future, reducing our carbon footprint and supporting our customers to do the same. It has been a privilege to once again support MRP Investment & Development and McAleer & Rushe on the construction of the most significant new office building in Leeds City Centre, which places sustainability at the heart of its operations. With an ‘Excellent’ BREAAM accreditation, City Square House building is fully electric powered, has a smart management system, as well as electric vehicle and e-bike charging facilities. Paddy McGuigan, UK Manager, Commercial Real Estate at AIB said: “It’s a privilege to have been the banking partner to our long-standing client MRP as they continue to showcase the benefits of sustainable, high spec commercial spaces for cities. AIB has supported MRP on a local and national level, and it’s great to see the organisation drive best-practice in sustainable built environment through show stopping developments like City Square House.”     Sustainability is at the heart of the AIB Group strategy as it seeks to protect our people, our prosperity and our planet from the devastating impact of climate change by reducing its own carbon footprint and supporting our customers to do the same. AIB’s purpose is empowering people to build a sustainable future, with an ambition that 70% of new lending will be green or transition by 2030. It is progressing that goal through the deployment of the €30 billion Climate Action Fund and through its new Climate Capital segment, which will focus on established renewable technology in North America, the UK and Europe.

The AIB team was delighted to support North Star in this transaction which amplifies their vision for a sustainable future via business growth even further.    James Tremaine, Energy & Infrastructure Team, said: “We were delighted to support this highly experienced management team with their strong vision for growing the business. North Star offers a critical energy support service, it’s well- positioned to take advantage of the growth potential within the offshore wind sector. Our experience is that the more sustainable lending we do, the more capital we can attract to finance such investment.”   Supporting businesses to be sustainable and to ensure the economy is sustainable is a key focus for AIB. Our new Climate Capital segment will maintain this global outlook, focusing on established renewable technology in North America, the UK and Europe.   AIB’s Climate Action Fund has increased to €30bn by the end of 2030, supporting the delivery of our ambition to have a net zero portfolio by 2040 and by 2050 including Agriculture. Recognising rising customer demand and the need to do to more to help combat climate change, we have been accelerating the roll out of support and services that assist customers in reducing their carbon emissions.
