The National Energy System Operator has published its independent analysis to advise the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero how to achieve Clean Power in 2030. The clean power pathways see a four-to-fivefold increase in demand flexibility, an increase in grid connected battery storage from 5 GW to over 22 GW, more pumped storage and major expansions in onshore wind (from 14 GW to 27 GW) and solar (from 15 GW to 47 GW), along with nuclear plant life extensions. Meet Chris, Head of HSEQ here at Anesco. Chris is responsible for leading our HSEQ department, which is split into HSE, Quality and Sustainability - all of which are important for us to design, construct and operate our projects safely and sustainably. To round off European Week for Safety and Health at Work, we thought we’d find out a little more from Chris about his role and what he enjoys most about working in the renewables industry. With a significant percentage of our workforce being below the age of 35, last summer we officially launched the Anesco Young Professionals Network (YPN). The network's mission is to empower younger team members to drive the transition to a sustainable future through engagement, representation and innovation. At a recent event organised by the YPN, we were delighted to be joined by Luke Hatton, a PhD Researcher at Imperial College London who works in the field of energy economics at the Centre for Environmental Policy. He shared his research and insights on the deployment of renewable energy, in particular around co-location, the market benefits, barriers and challenges, and asset modelling. A huge thank you to Luke, and well done to Ethan and Thea for organising such an interesting session. We know all the attendees took a lot from it. #youngprofessionals #renewablesindustry #colocation Teresa Winchester

Getting school pupils powered up about green careers!☀️ This year, more than 500 school pupils have taken part in workshops and been given a behind-the-scenes tour of various solar farms we look after. Whilst on site, the children took part in a range of practical activities, as well as getting to meet with our engineers to learn more about what it’s like working on a solar farm. We've loved working with Earth Energy Education on the initiative, with the visits designed to support the school curriculum and STEM. Anesco Engineer, Vince Waghorn: “It was fantastic to meet with the children and to talk to them about renewable energy and what it’s like being an engineer on a solar farm. They were so enthusiastic, especially to learn about biodiversity and how solar farms can support nature and wildlife.” Find out more on our blog here: https://lnkd.in/ePeqATri #solarfarm #STEM #solarcareers #renewablecareers Lorna Lyle Lucy Somerville Ian Corrick Scott McLaren Matt H.
