We are excited to announce that Apian is launching Ireland’s first regular medical delivery service by drone.
As anyone that follows Apian knows, Apian and Wing have been working together with healthcare partners to create a rapid medical delivery network in South Dublin.
Today we’re excited to officially launch the 3-6m trial, which will help showcase and better understand the benefits drones can offer to transform healthcare logistics. The partnership has been designed to trial faster, more reliable and sustainable medical logistics - supporting patients to receive the care they need, sooner.
Through the trial, Wing and Apian will deploy drone delivery to carry Medtronic’s medical supplies and devices to hospitals Blackrock Health and St. Vincent’s Private Hospital in Dublin. The delivery service will commence with a range of Medtronic medical devices with the lightweight drones offering quicker, more reliable deliveries, flying on more direct routes and avoiding the traffic congestion on Dublin’s roads. Ireland has been a welcome home for drone technology and medical technology in Europe. We greatly appreciate the collaboration we’ve had with regulators, regional stakeholders, and local communities to provide this medical delivery service.
Hammad Jeilani, Founder and Medical Director of Apian: “Apian is delivering the future model for a more innovative and efficient healthcare system and we are very proud to be part of this new partnership.”
