🎉 Exciting News from Aukett Swanke! 🎉 We’re thrilled to announce the promotion of David Smith and Simon Davies to Associate Directors within our London studio! Both bring a wealth of experience and dedication that will help drive our commitment to creating exceptional places for people and the environment. David Smith joined Aukett Swanke in 2013 and has since then been pivotal in managing the design, coordination, and the delivery of complex projects, including notable refurbishments and listed buildings. Focused on technical design leadership, David manages intricate project requirements and works closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project execution. In his new role, David will concentrate on technical oversight, studio operations, and commercial strategy, ensuring our projects are executed with precision and efficiency. Simon Davies, who joined us in 2011, has a wide-ranging portfolio that spans sectors including commercial, education, life sciences, retail, heritage, and hybrid schemes. With his commitment to thoughtful design, Simon believes in its power to enhance health, well-being, and social connection, a philosophy he brought to life in our recently completed STEAMhouse project. As Associate Director, Simon will continue to push design standards across the studio, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment that embodies our legacy of innovation. As Associate Directors, David and Simon will play an integral role in the ongoing success of our London studio and commented “we are excited to step into this new chapter, bringing our combined expertise to support the studio’s dedication to design excellence, innovation, and collaboration. 🎉 Hats off to The Beaumont Mayfair and De-Group Contracting for winning the Best Hotel Design of the Year at the Independent Hotel Show!! We’re thrilled to have partnered with DeGroup in delivering Phase 2 of this remarkable London landmark. Aukett Swanke were appointed as the Executive Interior Design delivery team for the second phase of the iconic Beaumont Hotel, located at 2 Providence Court, London. This exciting expansion includes a five-level extension adjacent to the Grade II listed building. Based on the concept by The Office of Thierry Despont (OTD), our team worked closely with DeGroup to meticulously coordinate and deliver luxurious suites, guestrooms, and front-of-house areas within the stunning new extension. Located at the heart of the ARC Oxford, Plot 5000 is designed to inspire innovation, foster connectivity, and promote wellbeing. The 93,000 sq ft lab-enabled building will set a new standard in sustainability and design, with a unique townhall space spanning two floors and a stunning rooftop terrace offering panoramic views of Oxford City Centre. ARC Oxford Plot 5000 unanimously secured a resolution to grant planning consent from Oxford City Council last night. Located at the heart of the ARC Oxford Science Park, Plot 5000 is a highly sustainable lab-enabled office. Its unprecedented amenity will set a new benchmark for lab buildings with a large townhall space across the ground and first floor. At roof level, a dedicated amenity space with playful roof form and generous natural light extends into a surrounding terrace offering unrivalled views towards Oxford City Centre. Aukett Swanke won the project through a competitive process that led to the commission by ARC to develop the proposal. It is part of ARC’s wider vision for the campus, which includes enhanced connectivity and sense of arrival. The building is fronted by the Waterside Gardens, a landscaped public realm that seamlessly connects the plot to the rest of the park. Sustainability is a key driver for the design, with passive architectural approaches, wellbeing-driven designs, functional adaptability strategies and circular economy principles being developed.
