At the Black Box Belfast last week with c21 Theatre Company and our collaborators Paula Clarke and Aura Studios to record some really exciting content using the latest technologies. Using motion capture suits (Paula loved that!), 3D Animation and Augmented Reality, we are working to develop a new app that is easily accessed by the public. The project aims to platform the power and beauty of British Sign Language and important NI Deaf community historical narratives, through 3D storytelling. The story revolves around Francis Maginn who was a pioneer for the deaf community and promoted sign language to improve living standards at the start of the 20th century. So much more to come from this unique digital performance project, which creates an opportunity to approach theatre making in new ways. Exciting stuff!! Aura is seeking volunteers to test out our new Augmented Reality App, Voyage AR! Voyage AR is an Immersive app prototype highlighting the heritage of the HMS Caroline, Docked in Belfast’s Harbor. The experience leads you on a walking trail from the salmon of knowledge to the HMS Caroline. The prototype was created in partnership with HMS Caroline, Belfast City Council, Hub-In and the Maritime Belfast Trust. Beyond delighted to announce that The Metaverse & Me has been selected by Poppy Jasper International Film Festival and Lift-Off Global Network Limited bringing our current Award & Festival count to 7! The exhibition is framed by significant personal events, the passing of my father in 2016, prompting a shift from traditional painting to XR and the loss of my mother in February 2023, as this exhibition was taking shape. Embedded within this creative exploration are profound themes exploring life, mortality, gender, identity, racial dynamics, the commodification of existence and the pervasive influence of social media. 'R U Ok?' places the viewer as both subject and object, encapsulating the staggering deluge of human-generated content within a world where data proliferates exponentially. 90% of today's global data has been generated in the past two years and human experience is being chronicled as never before.
