Meet Rod! Rod has been a dedicated part of our team for over 11 years, starting his journey as a Warehouse Operative. With prior managerial experience, it wasn’t long before he was asked to step up as a Shift Supervisor in his department and soon after, Rod took on the role of Recycling Manager at our Vault Distribution Centre. One of the most satisfying projects Rod has led during his time here has helped make the company more efficient by successfully finding ways to optimise operations in the recycling department. For Rod, however, it’s his team that makes him the proudest. They face challenges every day, yet consistently give their all. With long-serving team members who have seen the company grow and change over the years, the team’s resilience is a testament to their dedication to both the business and themselves. Thank you, Rod and team!

Meet Brian who joined B&M at our Prestwick store in August 2020. Brian was new to retail when he became a Store Colleague with us! After only 9 months he moved up to Floor Supervisor and one year later, Brian had a further promotion to Floor Manager. During this time, when Brian wasn’t on the shop floor, he also worked as an on-call fire fighter with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) and had racked up nearly 30 years’ of service. Brian just retired from the SFRS (a photo from his retirement presentation is below) and since then Brian has recently taken a new role as a Health & Safety Regional Advisor, where his experience and knowledge will be an asset to our team!

Meet Oliver, who joined B&M three years ago as a Team Manager in one of our bustling Distribution Centres. Oliver has now progressed to the role of Shift Manager, successfully overseeing a 24-hour operation and consistently delivering excellent results. Having thrived in his new role for over a year, Oliver is excited about his future at B&M and looks forward to continuing to make a positive impact on the business. As the week comes to a close and we step into a brand-new month, we wanted to shine a light on recent new additions to our B&M family. Whether they’re joining us for the first time or moving into new roles within the Support Centre, we always take the time to welcome everyone! As part of their induction, our new colleagues are taken on a tour of a Distribution Centre and visit a local store. A huge thank you to Jay and Karina who led this week’s visits and provided a valuable insight to the full scope of our operations. We believe that this deeper understanding of how our supply chain and retail operations work together is crucial. Included this week were two colleagues who have transferred into the Central Operations and Health & Safety teams, from other parts of the business. Meet Riz! Riz’s journey with B&M began in 2004, when he joined us as a Price Controller. Since then, he’s progressed through a variety of roles - Floor Supervisor, Floor Manager and Deputy Manager before becoming a Store Manager in 2012. Throughout his 20 year B&M career, he’s witnessed the company's remarkable growth, including the transformation into our B&M Home Stores format, expansion into Europe, and the establishment of a new Support Centre and many Distribution Centres! When looking back at his career with us, Riz said “I am proud to have been, and continue to be, part of B&M’s successes alongside my hardworking and dedicated teams.” #colleaguerecognition #retailcareers

Our B&M Fort Distribution Centre in Bedford celebrated its fifth birthday last week! 🎉🎉🎉 As one of the largest warehouses in the UK, covering over one million square feet (equivalent to 14 full-sized football pitches), it's more than a mile to walk around the entire site. The Fort services over half of our store portfolio! As the fifth anniversary theme is wood, colleagues at Bedford planted five fruit trees on site and recognised several colleagues with long service awards for reaching their five-year milestone. 🔊 We’re proud to announce the opening of our newest store, 874 Golden Square, located inside Golden Square Shopping Centre in Warrington. The store was opened by local charity, the Sky Garden Project, a great initiative that grows vegetables, fruit and herbs for the community and is a green space for wildlife right in the heart of the town. To celebrate, we’ve donated plants and a brand-new sign to support the Sky Garden Project’s mission. 🌻🌿🌼🌳🌷 Leading our Golden Square store is Carl, who has been with B&M for 21 years! Carl is joined by Deputy Store Manager Robert, who has been with B&M for almost 5 years. A huge thank you to all colleagues involved in the opening and good luck to the new store team!
