Bridgemere Land and Foundation Capital Ventures have started work at Cambridge Discovery Campus – 343,000 sq ft of science & innovation space on 50 acres to the south of Cambridge. The scheme secured planning permission last July and now VertaseFLI Limited has begun demolition and remediation works onsite ahead of the development of six lab-enabled buildings alongside extensive amenity provision – including a 30-acre country park. Bidwells and Savills are joint letting agents for the scheme. Cambridge Discovery Campus is the closest scheme of its type to the burgeoning Cambridge Biomedical Campus where AstraZeneca and Prologis are executing major expansion plans. This proximity will give Cambridge Discovery Campus occupiers swift and easy access to the world class research, patient care and academic excellence located at the biomedical campus – including the University of Cambridge, Papworth Hospital, Cancer Research UK and the recently announced Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital. The commencement of demolition and remediation works brings the vision for this 50 acre site’s innovative campus one step closer. A bespoke amenity building providing a café, meeting rooms, gym and superb sports facilities overlooks the community sports ground. A big thank you to Glencar for giving the BCR Infinity Architects team a tour of the Sidney Sussex Building at Chesterford Research Park. It was great for the team to see progress on this three storey R&D lab building. Work has commenced on the external cladding and the roof finish was well underway. We thought it looked fantastic. Great to see the fantastic scheme for Cambridge Discovery Campus as the subject of the Cambridge Forum for the Construction Industry (CFCI) talk yesterday evening. Our Director, Chris Jones of BCR Infinity Architects  joined Rob Sadler of Foundation Capital Ventures, Simon Green of Bidwells project management and guy kaddish of Bidwells planning on the panel.
