Over 50 community and voluntary organisations were in City Hall today to hear more about our Local Change Fund, supporting grassroots projects aimed at ending violence against women and girls. As well as highlighting details of the grants available - up to £25,000 per project - the event was a chance for groups to come together and share their thoughts on the kinds of projects they'd like to see delivered locally. Representatives from those working to deliver NI-wide projects, through the Regional Change Fund, were also on hand to highlight their work - also part of the NI Executive's Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy. These included Relate NI NSPCC and Women's Resource and Development Agency. To apply for support via the Local Change Fund, visit belfastcity.gov.uk/funding The deadline for bigger schemes (£5,000 and £25,000) is Monday 17 February at 12pm. The closing date for smaller schemes (under £5,000) is Friday 28 February at 12pm. #Grants #Funding #EndViolence #CommunityFunding #Belfast #EVAWG #EndVAWG

There’s less than two weeks to have your say on our draft ‘Planning Application Validation Checklist’ with our consultation closing on Monday 10 February. This Checklist will assist applicants and planning agents with the information required to be submitted with planning applications – above the current minimum mandatory guidance, which remains unchanged. It will benefit stakeholders including consultees, communities and businesses in providing more clarity to the information needed with planning applications, at the start of the planning process. It follows legislation, published by the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) on 1 October, that now permits councils to publish a Validation Checklist for planning applications. This new legislation will come into operation on 1 April which will enable councils time to prepare and consult on their proposed Validation Checklists. It was good to join with our city partners in the University of Ulster today for Belfast Summit, looking at opportunities and challenges for Belfast in 2025. As Lord Mayor, Councillor Micky Murray, describes here, there was plenty of energy in the room, looking at topics like retail support and our night-time economy, as well as the chance to hear from guest speakers, including New York nightlife mayor Ariel Palitz and urban planning expert Catherine Gall from Chaire ETI. Lots of inspiration and ideas to take forward together! #BelfastSummit #BelfastCityCentre #Regeneration #Belfast #Placemaking
