Department for the Economy NI Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald welcomes the filming of ‘The Death of Robin Hood’ in Belfast Harbour Studios and locations across the north. The Minister welcomed the opportunity to see behind the scenes of this major production and noted that the north is seen globally as a highly desirable filming location. Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald said: “It was a great privilege to see how our screen industry, with the support of NI Screen, is helping attract exciting productions like this to the north. We are recognised globally as a highly desirable filming location, not only for our diverse, beautiful and accessible locations, but also because of the outstanding skills base that has been built here. I am keen to develop this further, with the screen industries having been identified as one of the seven priority sectors for my Department.”

Tá mé go háirithe iontach sásta a chluinstin gur bhog duine de na rannpháirtithe ar aghaidh cheana féin ón Acadamh go printíseacht, agus guím gach rath air sa chéad chéim eile ina aistear saoil. Department for the Economy NI Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald has visited Irish medium training provider GaelChúrsaí to hear about the outcomes and impacts of the Irish Medium Pre-Apprenticeship Academy pilot programme. The Minister commented: “My visit today to GaelChúrsaí has been inspirational and it was great to see the very real impacts my Department’s Pre-Apprenticeship Academy programme has made to the lives of young people in this community. I am particularly pleased to hear how one of the participants has already progressed from the Academy to an apprenticeship and I want to wish them every success on the next stage of their journey. Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald today attended a skills roundtable event hosted by Danske Bank UK in Belfast. Attendees discussed how focussing on skills can accelerate growth and unlock productivity in NI. The Minister said: “This was an excellent discussion with senior leaders from across the financial services sector which looked at how the financial services industry can collectively embed skills through greater collaboration with government and education. Research by the Financial Services Skills Commission has found that demand for highly skilled staff in the sector is growing. “I am committed to helping businesses here secure the talented people they need. Last year my Department published a sectoral action plan for financial services and fintech, and I will soon be launching a skills action plan which will set out how we will further develop the local skills and talent base.”
