Bold Bean Co was launched in 2021 by Amelia Christie-Miller with the aim of creating a culture of bean obsessives. Beans, by every metric, are the worlds best food. But for too long - they've been side-dished. We're here to change that.

When I joined Bold Bean Co, I was inspired by their mission to make the world obsessed with beans, by giving them the best of beans. What I didn’t expect to see was this small but mighty brand actually making this mission a reality 🚀 But don't just take my word for it - The Times recently featured a fantastic article highlighting the incredible work that Amelia Christie-Miller and the amazing team at Bold Bean Co. are doing. ✨ Sales are up a remarkable 122% YoY, “driven by foodie influencers as well as the upmarket brand, the Bold Bean Co” ✨ 🫘 Queen Black Bean are up 417% and Queen Red Beans are up 355% - try them in a delicious Smoky Black Bean Bake this weekend and I promise you’ll see why As the article states: ✨"Bold Bean Co. has almost single-handedly reinvented the humble bean, transforming it from a staid, commodified product” ✨ As Amelia summarises: “Pulses are the closest thing to the perfect food." Essentially, the more beans we get people eating, the better—for our health, for the planet, and of course, for our taste buds (because, honestly, they’re ridiculously delicious). This is the sort of article I dreamt up in a manifestation moment 4 years ago. It felt far off. BOLD. Ambitious. But here we are! 💥 According to The Times, beans are seeing a "spike in popularity" at retailers like Waitrose & Partners & Sainsbury's, and APPARENTLY, Bold Bean Co is driving this shift!! 🌱 Of course, it’s not just about us. It’s the food creators whipping up amazing recipes, the gut health movement and brands like ZOE, and the growing awareness that beans are THE perfect food - for the planet, your pocket, and your health - yes - #beansishow. I’ve had a few people say to me in a slightly patronising tone, “Wow, you really got lucky with your timing, didn’t you?” I smile and say, “Yes, I know, so lucky!” 😊 But let me be honest: while I do wonder about the balance between luck and hard work, I KNOW we've played a big role in this change. Yes, there was some luck, but I believe you create your own luck too. ➡ It was years prior placing myself the food sustainability space. ➡ It was attending panels on food system issues, reading everything I could get my hands on, following my curiosity and eventually - naturally - arriving at BEANS (All roads lead to beans, trust me). Once I knew it was beans, I spent hours at the British Library, researching health and consumer trends, confirming what my gut was telling me - that it was time to take the leap. And then there’s the tangible work: - 40k copies of Bold Beans, our cookbook, sold - packed with bean recipes. - 108k Instagram followers, regularly inspired by bean-packed plates. - Hours and hours of sourcing, testing and perfecting our beans - so that when someone tries them from the first time - they're obsessed. - 50k monthly visitors to our website, hunting for bean recipes. - 3 million BBC viewers seeing beans pitched to some initially skeptical dragons. - £120k worth of beans gifted to food creators, (who open their cupboard on a Monday morning and wonder what they're going to cook up for their followers) - Great Taste Awards across our entire range (well, minus the Baked Beans that have just launched!) All of this has come from passion, dedication, and an amazing team at Bold Bean Co who truly believe in what we're doing. So, yes, this article is incredible for the exposure in a national newspaper, but what excites me most is the recognition of our role in this movement - and what’s to come... WHAT'S OUR SECRET?! Tender loving care. Our baked beans took nearly 3 years in the making, and for many reasons 💯 QUALITY is always our biggest priority, and with quality comes time + care. Our SUPERSTAR new product development manager Rosa Hernández sourced the BEST beans, tasted + tested the BEST tomato sauce and we eventually narrowed it down to 3, carefully crafted flavours: the rich tomato, the smoky chilli + the classic. 🙌Our mission is to make people obsessed with beans. To do that, we had to launch with the mainstream varieties like the butter bean + the chickpea (see them as the jocks + the cheerleaders, if ya like) but to source + create the BEST + MOST DELICIOUS VARIETIES POSSIBLE. From that stemmed a whole new other varieties to ease people into the world of beans, from carlin peas, to borlottis + now it feels right to tackle THE BAKED. 🐘The elephant in the room - hey old bean Heinz 👋 - these guys have cracked the baked bean scene. it’s become our Nation’s classic dish and for very good reason. We’re not trying to compete with these guys, all beans are great beans in our eyes. But we want to bring a new + EXCITING product to healthy convenient food that is, above all, DELICIOUS 💚 KEEN TO TRY? THE BEAUTIFUL BORLOTTI Our borlotti beans are a small but VERY special harvest. Flavour-first sourcing is our top priority. And for our borlotti beans, that meant Piedmont, Italy 🇮🇹 where Farmer Davide’s family have been cultivating these beans for 70 years. After all, the sign does say “the typical land of beans” 😀 👌Those beautiful pods you see are probably more familiar to you when you think of borlottis, with their pink speckled spots. And when cooked, they turn into this creamy, buttery, MELT IN THE MOUTH delicious bean you have ever tasted.We asked Davide his favourite way to eat them, and his answer; PASTA E FAGIOLI. It’s a classic for a reason (+ we’ve got a pretty great recipe on our website). Building relationships with our farmers is incredibly important to us - making those connections, UNDERSTANDING where our products come from + bringing those on our journey with us 💚 Because these beans are so special, we’ve made them exclusive to indepedents + on our website.
